NEW:80-100 180KV High Performance RC/ebike Motor

Postby RemoteContact » Thu Jan 19, 2012 2:25 pm

Hey guys, I just imported a bunch of 80-100 180KV motors for a robotics project I'm doing. There was a large minimum order so I decided to sell some of the extras here.

The motors are very similar to these: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... 0_55_.html

I did spec some custom options like the color (black) and alloy socket head cap screws instead of phillips on the can.

$225 shipped in the US.

I'm glad someone has successfully bought these from the manufacturer. It's good to know the source wont dry up. The black looks great! I do have to say that leader hobbies has the motors in stock for $150 so @ $225 it will be a little hard to sell. I think the black may make up for it :-D These have an insane amount of power for a robot! how many will it be running? what controllers? what kind of robot? post pics! I used to build US First robots, a pair of these would have been a dream come true. Also you may want to considering removing the skirt bearing depending on your application.

Leaders hobby does have the 80-100 but only in 130KV. Trust me, if I could avoid importing things I would. The skirt bearing is one of the best features of this motor! I use this motor in my middleweight battlebot Witch Doctor. Here's a quick fight. http://youtu.be/8XElkUqzMz4

The demand on this forum will be for the 130kv. Many of us including myself are even rewinding these motors for even lower (55kv-88kv). In any situation where the motor is mounted clear of side loads and impacts it is foolish to run the skirt bearing. As these big bearings get older they really start to rob power. The one thing you really do have going for you is that all black case, I'm jealous.

Sick robot though! Battle bots always looked like a lot of fun to me. Man do I miss those US First competitions from HS. What controllers are you running? I will be using optical sensors for my next sensored setup.

I run a Castle Creations HV160. Bulletproof. Anybody who runs 12s would love this winding. I can understand going with a lower KV and higher voltage but then you have to go with something like a kelly (sadness) not to mention the charging/bms complications that go along with higher voltage. 12s is in the RC balance charger realm.

Bump and price reduction to $199 to sell the remaining motors.
