Hi Farfle,

I'm almost ready to have a custom swingarm made. You can see what I have in mind in my build thread as I don't want to clog up your FS thread: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=35455&start=45

There is also a "photo match", ie; a 3D representaion of your great work in the model for easier comparison. I have also made the model available to download in that post if you'd like to take a closer look at it. ;)

Whadaya think?

Quick progress update, all of the prices have been finished by hand. The cut path of the plasma cutter was too wide, so the dropouts had to be rebuilt. Heres a few picture s for you all.

Pieces were cut from a single piece of 5/16x 4" 4130 flat bar with a bandsaw and then the grove is machined into all of them with the 10mm end mill.

It was kinda both of our faults, I didn't modify the cad drawing, and the shop didn't think to tell me, so they picked up half the tab. The good thing is that I now get contractors rates with them

Hey farfle I've been looking at this thread for a while. Is there a way we could get this swingarm for a 26" rim and a BIT longer (about 3-4 inches) longer than the stock one. Or if it is easier just the stock length with disc brake mounts.

That's the whole idea behind his swingarm. It's longer than stock, but I'm unsure how much.

I wish to have a better arm than stock for regen and more voltage + disc. I don't need the extended geometry.

I read on my older pm's 7 inch from oem, nevermind if it is 3" anyway I'd like to get as close as oem as possible. So no requests made, I'd probably find a GMC topkick rear arm and use that since it already has the disc mount.

I sent a PM about a week ago and didn't hear back. Do I have one of these reserved?

Looks like a spot just opened up anyways. 3" longer is fine with me, id prefer 6-8".
Does this have clamping dropouts? I'd prefer 1" of steel and super tight bolts with nordlocks. I might end up welding doctor bass's torque arms on.

I want to run 15-20kW + regen without any remote concern of the tire falling off. Think this will get me there?

Your pm might have been buried, yeah, there are two available, and as for the dropouts they are 5/16 4130 full temper plate. They are probably strong enough for what you want to do. Shoot me a pm if you want to order one.

Ok, swingarms are all sold or reserved. Next batch will probably start after the grange race on April 7th, thanks to all who ordered one, the money from these all helps us get the 800 miles from bend to socal and back.

Nice swingarm! What's the maxium wheel size? Will it be able to fit a fat bike tire/rim combo like this?

I think so, especially if that is a 20" wheel. Or you could have him make you one like I mine, and maybe my cost would come down if farfle was to make more than a one off just for me

If you mean 'what is possible' check out my thread in the link I posted right there for ^visuthdy^ ;)
