I'd like to know also, I spent a lot of time last week trying to find a way to do it for free on the web but without any success.
Is it ready yet?

if there is a plate, you can send an email to the DMV for that state and see if it is stolen. which i assume is what you wanna know. if there is no plate, ask the seller if there is any registration, and which state, failure to communicate there would be a red flag, imo.

Try the Motor Vehicle web site where the vehicle is at. Works in New York State USA
http://www.dmv.ny.gov/titlestat/default.html
New York State DMV - Internet Office Transactions
Title/Lien Status Check

Use this online application to check the status of a NYS-issued vehicle title.

Note: You can only check the status of vehicle titles and liens online. You cannot check the status of titles or liens for boats.

Status Check displays the date the title was issued by DMV, number of liens (if any), and the lienholder. No personal information is displayed.

You must enter:

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN),
vehicle model year, and
vehicle make.

Are you just trying to make sure it's not stolen?

I would call your nearest dealer (Zero has real dealers right?) and ask them. Unless your nearest dealer is the one selling it. Then, call your second nearest dealer. They have to have some internal registry.
New to endless-sphere? Notice a lot of signatures recommending Ebike.ca? That's because it's the best place for a quality and manageable, (but still 'real'), first build. Justin is a solid supporter of electric bike development, and a good source of equipment.

My hat off a thousand times to the green people that effectively run this forum. The ES Mods are superb.
