Highest Quality Bicycle Chain

Postby boppinbob » Fri Feb 24, 2012 11:32 am

Who can answer this? What is the best electric bicycle chain? I noticed the chain that came with the Walmart Genesis v2100 is kinda of flimsy looking compared to the Prodeco Phantom X chain. Also are bicycle chains interchangeable?

looks like the chain is only one of the problems... might check out these reviews for more areas for upgrading.. special notice to bottom bracket and pedals

I know lots of things need to be upgraded but I'm starting with the chain.

All bicycle chain is not interchangeable. Are you running power through the gears? If not, there's not much reason to upgrade the chain. Ride it till it wears out and then replace it.

Yeah that makes sense. With 74v and 50 amps I'm free wheeling 99% of the time.(except when I see a cop car I pedal my ass off) also I noticed the front gears were not mounted parallel to the bike but that is an easy fix.

Why do you have to pedal when you see a cop?

With 74v, I would consider upgrading the brakes before anything else.

So he'll think I'm doing 40 mph on a stock walmart mountain bike. The bike has to be registered if it can do over 20 and has more than a 750 watt motor I thought. If he notices the battery box and wiring I'll tell him its for my boom box.

the best one is this one:

I have tried using the fat boy chains for single speeds, but i prefer a 9 speed derailleur. ^ cheap, durable, won't break multispeed 1200ton chain is hx kmc.
