New Headline/cyclone motor mount bracket

Hi to all

We have just made and released photos of our next batch of motor mount brackets, they will suit just about any down tube diameter and profile . Also we have left some room if you would like to go larger then 48 Teeth chain rings between the motor and freewheel. Their is enough slack in the motor mount slots to adjust the chain tension without the need for a chain tensioner.

i have had endless troubles keeping my cyclone motor in alignment with the chain wheel and this would be perfect..
oh i just noticed the second chain in your picture, would this work with a single chain wheel setup.. i guess i would need a tensioner then..
how much would this cost me, would probably need all the nuts and bolts too?.. and cost if i need the 48t triple chain wheel, and extra chain?

how come tensioner isn't a word, its got a red squiggly line under it?

Hi Sorry about the delay , just saw this post.

The bracket suits the dual or triple freewheel, not the single chainwheel, so yes you need 2 chains as well.

We have also noticed that their is a significant efficiency improvement when not having to run a chain tensioner. We have also noticed an efficiency improvement in using our oil conversion kit for the gearbox, which we will be releasing soon for high power and high mileage motors.

Grease is not suited to high rpms and also has high parasitic losses compared to oil , normally for high power motors this is not much of an issue, but when you have limited motor power and battery capacity, the increase in efficiency is actually quite significant.


We have not exactly quantified this improvement yet, the initial testing is showing some good gains, but we will try and get some exact numbers on these efficiency improvements soon.

Shortly we will be releasing a new version of the bracket from aluminium with cross bracing to easily handle more then 1.2kw of motor power. ( Confirm your interest email us at aft_ebike@hotmail.com )

Also the new version will have some added features:

- Lighter weight and more torsional stifness
- Access to the oil breather hole when running oil vs grease i.e motor and gearbox does not have to be removed to drain/fill the oil.
- Room for mounting a crank sensor on the drive side.
- More offset adjustment to allow easier tension adjustement so no need for a chain tensioner, which gives an improvment in drivetrain efficiency.

We will be doing some testing and collecting data to show the improvements in efficiency when running our oil in the gearbox vs grease and also when using our bracket and hence without a chain tensioner.

Due to poppular requests, we will be releasing our new 6mm laser cut cross braced bracket kit in Steel as well and we will also be offering it on a new product promotion. This bracket is ideal for 960w and above motors to the high torque.

Also to lower costs the bracket will be sold in raw steel finish so you can apply your own paint finish and colours to match your bicycle.

This mounting kit will come with all the hardware to mount a cyclone/headline motor to nearly any bicycle, the strongest and most reliable way possible, as it 's located around the Bottom bracket, so their can be no slippage or movement over time.

Also our mounting system has enough adjustment that no chain tensioner is required, this only possible with a very stiff mounting system as normal mounting systems can flex under load and cause chain derailments. However some crank arms/freewheel have a lot of runout and cannot be tensioned succesfuly and a chain tensioner maybe needed in these situations unless crank freewheel mounting is machined correctly.

If you are purchasing a kit from us the new bracket kit upgrade price will be $99 AUD, if you are not purchasing a kit from us the total price is $119 AUD + postage excluding the chain tensioner.
