The protos should arrive at any time for approval, and then it will take 6 to 8 weeks for the main production.

Hey man can you quote me a wheel build with your 17x1.4" moped wheels and a DMR hub, black spokes and painted black wheel ideally?

With the alloy rims it would be $281 plus shipping. With the steel it would be $241 plus shipping.

12ga spokes work well for most light weight rims, but 13ga could work too depending on the total gross weight and vehicle speed.

Yes, that is a per wheel cost. Knock off $100 if you want to lace it yourself.

Hi John and others,

Just wondering. I would like to make small jumps with my 20 pound rear Crystalyte HT3525 when my front fork (Fox F100 Terralogic) comes back from service. However, I am afraid that with the current crap Chinese lacing, I will break either the spokes or the rim. I myself weigh about 70kg, with a bike of about 10kg, a Lipo pack of 10kg, and the mentioned rear hubmotor (another 10kg). That means that after a jump, the lacing + rim of my rear wheel should be able to withstand the initial impact of 10kg hub/motor without suspension, and the remaining 90kg directly after that with the help of my rear supsension (Fox FLOAT 6.5"). Oh, and on tarmac I reach top speeds of 75km/h, so I prefer a rear wheel that manages that without issues.

My question: what rim, spokes, and tire would you recommend for a 26" outer diameter 2.5" max width configuration if you assume quality is the highest priority? Would these MoPed rims and spokes suffice? And how much would that cost? Thanks very much in advance for your answers!

I've been elbows deep building wheels and waiting for prototype rims and the spoke order lately, apologies for the latent response.

I don't have a good recommendation for you right now hjns, when I get the 19's in I feel I can make a better recommendation. Not sure how tall they will end up.

All I have in stock right now is steel 17's and 16's, listed on the site. The silver alloy 18's still haven't been put up there, all alloys are $80 and up.

JRH,
I'm highly interested in the 18" diameter, 1.6" width, black anodized mentioned on page 1. I'd buy 2 right away. Did you get enough interest to move forward on these?

Apologies if it was covered in the thread. I read OP but it doesn't answer a ? that can help me & maybe others out.
Is it possible for you to lace a X5 to a 14" MX rim? How about a H series or 9c?
I'd like to potentially convert a pitbike that use 12"/14" knobbies.
Ever done a lace job like a this?

Thanks John.

I'm still waiting on prototypes (for some unknown reason), I absolutely am trying to move forwards with this in all sizes. I don't want to plunk down so much cash without protos first

Ive never tried a 14" rim. It would be tough. 16's are already small enough, I don't even know if a 14 could fit around it!

Thank you John!
I only just "discovered" I need larger wheels, so I have not suffered the wait for prototypes/stock wheels. I'll definitely be in for two when you've got the stock.

Just got back into town, I'll be back at work Monday. I'll go through emails and respond, but if your question is a "how do I order" email it may get ignored. Please just buy directly from the site. If it isn't on the site yet it isn't available for sale.

Hm... what would give me 22" equivalent? a 2.5" wide/tall moped tire on an 18" rim?

Are you stuck on a DMR revolver? i found this hub and it looks rather beefy..

Alternately, could a shimano deore do?
I want to run about 20 horsepower.. wondering if this is even doable with bike hubs and spokes.

Yeah, an 18" would be your best bet.

The DMR hubs are the only front QR20 with 36 hole I can find in the states.

Just got word my prototype rims are here in the states. So when they say 6 weeks for prototyping they mean about 6 months

Hello John,

I am looking for a 19" aluminum rim ( probably 1.60 width) and the right spokes for my 5403 hub motor. I plan on using a 2.50 or 2.75 x 19 tire ( 90/90/19)

Can you help me with that? That's teh best equivalent diameter to my 24 x 2.5" hookworm i found.

After running my motor in a 29inch wheel (hits head), I am now interested in running my cromotor in a more appropriate rim under 20". I figure 16-17" is where I should be to be able to fit the wheel in a vintage moped someday. What is the latest and greatest advice?

hillzofvalp use the smallest rim you can!
14" rim if thats possible and thick tires ll add cushion to your ride with an OD of about 19" something
