Midwest a123 group buy

Postby johnrobholmes » Sun Mar 25, 2012 12:58 am

I need about 100 a123 pouch cells for myself. Anybody else in the midwest area want to order some cells with me in the next month or two? Recumpence, you were talking about needing 20ah for a bike you were building last we talked. Looks like prices through Victpower are averaging $18 each, I would assume closer to $25 each cell by the time bad ones are weeded and shipping is calculated.

I'm not looking to carry these in my store and don't want to fuss with much shipping. I don't have the means to bench test cells, but I could at least check resting voltages and disperse bad cell costs among the entire lot. Anybody else around mid Missouri that wants some energy storage too?

Deposits made here http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php?pr ... =475&cat=6

I am cutting this buy off at 300 cells. USA shipping only please. I am taking orders until April 15th.

Hopefully that buy will be done and over before I make the purchase. Sucks that things aren't going smooth, but paypal doesn't take kindly to mass payments on accounts that don't normally see high volumes. Screams scammer alert.

I never got a reply back from the guy when I inquired about the group purchase, and then read about the recent troubles.

I'm going with you John. I like to go in on 22 cells for a high voltage setup.

Thanks,

Kin

I reckon I will just have to work out shipping then. No orders outside of the continental US though!

Tentative Terms and disclaimers

I'll be making the purchase through Victpower on April 16th, assuming they have inventory.
Cells will be $25 deposit each, shipping costs from Holmes not included and will be due before final transit to you.
I will have a hidden item on my website that can be purchased from April 1st to April 15th.
I am going to Japan the first of May. I have a worker that takes care of orders, so this shouldn't be much of a hitch.
The order will be placed on the 16th with a 10% buffer of cells over the amount needed.
Each cell will be tested for resting voltage, no other warranty given on cell condition or performance. I suggest you buy a few more than you need. I am .
Buyer assumes all building, charging, and management tasks. I am only offering bare cells.

Sound copacetic to everybody? A two week purchase window will reduce risks on the buyers behalf when considering paypal and credit card refund policy.

I received satisfactory replies from Victpower regarding inventory levels and shipping rates.

You can reserve your batteries here http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php?pr ... =475&cat=6

Group buy is open until april 15th, purchase will be made on the 16th. I am capping it at 300 cells. If there is demand for another group from a reputable person in the US I can head up another one in May once all these cells are distributed.

I was seriously thinking about my own small group buy. I should know something by April 12 from Paypal.

I would definitely be interested in 13, possibly 25, IF I am guaranteed my money back from paypal.

Don't reserve any for me, but, figure I COULD be in for 13+.Shipping to Florida.

No worries. I just have cells up on the site in that hidden item for people to reserve. I hope all goes well with that buy, I was thinking about it and just decided to wait a week!

I may be interested in 5-10 just for testing purposes. I could offer to basically purchase the extra's you order to protect against any DOA. If some are DOA and you don't get any extra then I just end up with none. I don't need them, but am interesting in testing as many cells as I can :D

I like that there is some insurance with buying some extra cells in the group. I'm in for 24 0r 25 if that's o.k.. Will hook up on website later. I think 2 36v packs for switching around.

Anybody mind if I order these a bit sooner than planned? Put another way, is anybody saving up pennies to get in on this within the next week or so? We have about 200 cells in the buy now.

Once they land I will bump up prices to $30 a cell for stuff sitting in inventory. I do have overhead to support!
