Trusted Sites for Batteries on Alibaba?

Postby IIIHorseman » Tue Apr 10, 2012 11:31 am

I was looking for a 48 V 10AH battery bottle and was wondering if I should get it from Alibaba, and if so, what are this sites trusted vendors?

I was looking at the following:

Guangzhou Freego Digital Tech http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/51417 ... _case.html

Shenzhen Topband http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/52738 ... ooter.html

O' Cell New Enegry http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/54324 ... ttery.html

Alibaba is a great place to get ripped off. I've been on this forum for 2 years and have never heard of a vendor on Alibaba ever recommended. What tends to happen is that if someone DOES get something working, the seller lied about the specifications, it's partially working, or a very old stock version of something newer.

The all-arounder: 8T MAC motor on a Trek 4500.
The girlfriend bike: 350W front MAC on a 700c Trek.
The wheelie machine: 20" Rear Magic Pie II on a Trek 4300 MTB
The Bus: ??? on a 'da bomb' cargo bike frame

Pro-tips for noobs: Avoid BMS Battery like the plague | Charge RC Lipos to 4.15v, stop discharging at 3.5-3.6v | Use torque plates/arms! | Rear mounted hubs are always best

Sure, give it a go, with money you'd put in a vegas slot machine.

If you want to save money, buy good stuff from vendors with many years of customer service reputation selling to north america and europe. Like pingbattery.
THE LIPO RULES. NEVER ABOVE 4.3V NEVER BELOW 2.7V DON'T PUNCTURE

Ideal charging /discharging range for Lipo, 3.65v minimum 4.1v maximum

See battery technology section, FAQ thread at the top of the page for lipo noob info.

Victpower is a member on Alibaba.
And it seems they are solid.
Alibaba is ONLY go between , they do not sell anything themselves.
However quite few dishonest companies as a members, Alibaba doesn't really check them when they become members.
Read about Victpower in Doc thread about Canadian group buy of A123 20Ah cells. He is happy from purchase a lot.
There are others satisfied with Victpower, jus read more Batt Tech section.

alibaba basically slaps a 'gold rated'/'verified' sticker on every member.

It's like eBay.. but with no feedback to see who is a scammer and who isn't..

Anyone with a good experience with a particular vendor? I contacted BMS Battery site and they are also from mainland China, specifically Guangzhou region (which where many Alibaba sellers are from).

they are all from china. the chinese are so far ahead of the rest of the world in making consumer products, they have no competition.

your problem will not be supplier. it will be the bottle battery form that dooms it. jmho
