Nice bike light on ebay 24-90V 12w 29.99U$

The one i have also has a 12v rear LED light tapped into it running off the same voltage dropper, then i connected another front led light to switch alternately to act as a low beam with the ebay light as my high beam, this showed up another problem, when i am switched to low beam with the front and rear led's on but the ebay light off the current draw on the voltage dropper is too low to pull the voltage down, i was measuring 50v output which blew my led's so i am going to remove the dropper and put mine on a 3s battery. I will let you know if this makes a difference to the brightness as it will then be able to pull all the current it wants. The dropper was being fed from 18s 75v and appears to be a very poor excuse for a dc dc converter.

Simon, the dropper is not at fault. It was already discussed in this thread that it is NOT voltage stabilized, instead it holds stable current to drive the leds it was designed to work with. Since your small leds were too weak to receive such current at 12V, the dropper was increasing the voltage to increase the current until the leds died a quick death. To drive your small leds you will need a 12v stabilized supply, usually a cheap switched wall supply with 300mA or even lower output will do the job.

When it's plugged in it by default comes on high, without buttons, so depending on what you want to do a switch would work.

Not sure we are talking about the same light. I just got the MJ-808E XML head from geomangear and it does not "remember" the power setting and always comes in the "off" state when plugged in. The remote switch is not an option.
Few notes for those considering it:
- It takes 0.8A on full at 12.5V, there are 3 levels of brightness and no blinker.
- It has a clearly defined round spot (a bit small to my taste, I am used to flood beam) and rather weak flood area.
- The color in the spot is a pleasant white (warmer than my trailtech HID) with no blue tint (if anything there is a very slight greenish tint to it). There is some blue tint in the flood area but not in the spot.
- Mounting may be a problem for some, the light does not pivot and sits very close to the handlebar (uses rubber rings instead of a usual clamp). It may interfere with the cabling because of proximity to the handlebar (it does on our bikeE recumbent had to move things around to mount it).

Something must have changed since then with a newer or different model. If you don't want it and can't return it, I might be able to buy it from you.

Don't worry, I'll find the use for both units that I got . One goes on my wife's bikeE and does not need a remote switch. For the other unit I'll figure out something. I actually do like the color temperature of this light (in the main spot). Many other LED lights I've seen produce bluish tint (or just very cold white beam) that makes things look ghostly and unnatural. This one is noticeably warmer and has some very slight green tint which makes grass and foliage look nice at night

Can anyone confirm this light works off the aux off the CA. Looking to keep it simple and if I can wire the light up to the CA that would be great. Mines a CA-DP.

Did anyone test it's water resistance? The ebay ad states you need to waterproof it. I'd hate to get caught in rain and kill the light.

I measured 80V (pack voltage) from the aux jack (which I have on my large screen CA, but do not see documentation for, except as an upgrade on in the store:

And since someone cited that it draws 10W, seems like it would work! I'm going to go for it.

I measured the current draw on mine at under 0.14 amp at 74v, the CA states that upto 500ma can be drawn off the pack voltage wire in the CA so yes you should be able to run it from there.

OK Just bought one of these babies.

I have a nice DSLR camera here as well.

I will post pictures of the beam on this compared to my Led Lenser H14 Beams which is what i currently and using ( 3 of them ).

I bought one of these as it runs from the bike battery so i plan on running 4 lights on teh freeway when im riding home at night. Ill look like a truck to oncoming cars but lucky there on the other side of the road.

I picked one of these up and have just started commuting with it. I'm very pleased - its a much more functional "see" headlight than my magicshine, which I'll now mount on my helmet and use as a directed spot.

I did find that the two screws lined up perfectly with the cutouts in my Minoura Space Grip, so I screwed it directly on to the front. That left the bar free for other accessories, and still give up/down adjustment. I'll try and post pics later - the trike got trapped at work by a surprised thunderstorm.

Hi- I bought 2 Solarforce L2P with Manafont UF 3 mode Drop-in. HOLY BAT! It blows! It cost me 19 dollars each on Solarforce L2P flashlight + 16 dollars Manafont UF 3 mode drop-in. I love this flashlight really throw and floody combine.

I like Justin@ebikes.ca Lumenator but this thing cost fortune compare to mine bang for the buck which it is cheap with excellent throw and floody.

runs fine off CA DC out as well. now i have to sort out connection/mount. not sure where to get 2.1mm female and think i'll probably just hardwire it, or use andersons... i think i'll end up cutting a lot of the extra cable before and after the driver..

Radio Shack generally carries the 2.1 female connectors.

Right, good place to start is opening those shrink wrapped connections between driver cable and light, in my it was just twisted wire connection with no solder on it, would got apart with just slight pull.

Judging by the dc-dc converter, it was made to handle between 48v and 72v.

shorza, disregard the dc-dc convertor in that pic, The light has its own dc-dc drive ( that black thing in the shrink wrap as per pic from the ebay seller ). The ebay seller also sells dc-dc convertors so I thought since I'm buying the light from him I'll grab a dc-dc convertor too just incase I change my mind on the light or decide to use the dc-dc convertor elsewhere.
