For your claims about what the motor can take, I could easily get 70mph on my ebike by upping the voltage so that the controller dumps 10+kw for the brief moment. I can also get 70 miles out of a 10ah battery, but I'd be traveling at 10mph and pedalling my head off.

When there is proof that any of the hi-powered cycle motors can handle continuously what they are said to be rated at, every other motor out there would be put to shame. Even the cromotor.

Use some sense even if you bought a bike from hi-powered cycles. If hi-powered cycles really lived up to its name, it would have a monopoly right now selling ebikes, heck I'd even buy one myself. But the end game is that they overinflate not only the specs of their motors and batteries, but also their prices.

I really wanted to stay out of this debate, but that's just injustice to the people thinking about purchasing something from them.

Hey, fully charged my motor went faster than promised too, so does everyone else's. You got quoted the nominal speed and you got what you were quoted once your voltage curve drops from it's peak.



I never said the bikes were underpowered, i just said they were tuned too hot ( just like all the BMC V3 ones that they sold as 3000-4000w capable motors which obviously weren't capable of that... HPC admits it now ).

HPC maintains that these crystalyte HT/HS type motors can do 5000w continuous and that's absolute BS.

40 miles of range on what volt/amp hour battery at what speed? 20mph? or 47mph?
You know that every other bike is rated for mileage at it's top speed, right?

If i run the ebikes.ca simulator on a 76/20AH battery at full throttle, i get about an 18 mile range. Pull the throttle WAY back to do 20mph and you get 69 miles of range.

neptronix, i know you posted a pic of your $1600 bike and have all the power in the world, but im sorry if i wanted a $1600 bike that looked like it came from goodwill, i would've shopped at goodwill.

Ahem, my build cost was more like $1,300 and does the above bike really look like it came from goodwill? I know the handlebar extension is a little funky but it's pretty stealth and clean otherwise - the only wires coming out of the bag go to the hub motor and the throttle. A lot of people have emulated what i've done and have given lots of compliments on the forum and outside. This is the first time i've heard anything negative about it.

I also have more battery than you have in that bag. Just sayin.

OK, I have been reading the forums for a while now, and now it is time to break my silence and give my 2 cents worth. Ever since I started with a Synergy Cycle with a side mount BMC motor, I was hooked on electric bikes! I had been researching the internet relentlessly to see what direction I would go in next. Then about 4 or 5 months ago, I found hi-power cycles. I ended up getting a full suspension 3500W XC-3. There was really nothing out there that compared for the price.

I spoke on the phone with them, and they were extremely nice and pleasant to speak with and very knowledgeable. Well let me tell you, I could not be ANY happier with my purchase! I have had no problems, and have put about 3500 miles on the bike already! It is beyond great. They quoted me 45 MPH on the flats top speed, 37 mile range, and of course 3500W of power.

Okay since you guys know so much, If a person has no knowledge to put a bike together or does not want to, and has cash to spend ( and not over $10,000 for an opti bike or stealth) Who sells a pre-built bike that will not be a piece of crap or go more than 20mph?
Maby you should make a list- i would sure like to see it.

Theres more posts on here with people "i have ths bike an not happy and want more power speed and upgades" and their gonna spend $ trial and error things.

HPC has been in businees for years, you would think then if they had alot of problems with there bikes there would be more complaints on here. I have seen complaints or problems with parts with just about every vendor that sells stuff.

So really, please post some links to compararable vendors of complete bikes and then maby start a tread of every vendor that has sold a failed part - it would be an epic thread.

And i like the new one about the new 54xx motors that the treads on the axel peeling- how much did they spend for those motors? Are they being sent back for warrenty or are they just stuck with it?

You guys are too funny. Yes, I am a real person. Yes, I am the actual owner of this bike. When I bought my bike, I was pretty excited so I asked for some pictures before they shipped it out. So, I would assume it probably was taken at their shop. It thought it was a great pic. A lot better than I can take with my little canon point an shoot, so I posted it.

Next time, I'll be sure to include my Full name and Invoice number so you can cross check with HPC. I have some thumbprints and a social security number if you need that too.

You win. hi power cycles is the only company. The reason is probably legalities. But there is definitely a market opportunity for someone else to come in and build the same kinda thing for a lower price / spec it out correctly.

Thus is the nature of tinkering around and finding out for yourself what is best. Most people start out with a small budget and small expectations of what an electric bike should do.. then later on they want something with more power.

They've also had issues with phase/hall wires being cut by the poorly designed axle as well.
So yeah, your motor is not any better.

Id rather pay and extra $2500 and get a whole lot more value from stealthelectricbikes than pay just 5k for one of HPC showcase bike pos.

$5000 hpc ,6061 aluminium, battery bag, not even sure what batteries they use, im sure its cheap everything looks cheap with them.

$7500 stealth fighter, Cromo tig welder and HAND BUILT

When i think on how to compare them, the only way to explain it is...
hpc = used car that will break soon
Stealthfighter = Ferrari


Both expensive but for each dollar you pay, you get SO MUCH more value from stealthelectricbikes.
like come on, its a custom made frame, made to be an electric bike.

Hi-Powered Cycles has contacted me. I have sent a Hub motor and controller back to them at their expense. They say they will try to make amends. I have to hand it to them, they're trying to make it right.

If they do then, As far as i know, there isnt anybody that actually has purchased a bike from them and is not happy with it or with their service.

Richrich, long ago you have said that you never came back on this post and your back, curious attitude indeed Well a shame it's shame even if it cames from HPC, I don't mind if they are in business or not. If they are honest and stop lying to people like they do here , i will be more incline to recommend them to a newbie. Neptronix as point out many fails declaration from them and you can read them or not at your choice.

As i pointed out a few posts up, that Neptronix had to agree with, there are no vendors (unless you want to spend $10,000 or more for a stealth or optibike) of prebuilt bikes that arent a piece of crap or limited to 20mph.

Two of my bikes for $5000+ shipping Is not really saving me any money over what i spent.

Lol buy a Phasor cycle frame and you can build a similar or better ebike than a Stealth for less then 5000 $ with the top speed of your choice… with more range, more power and better handling.

No HPC cycle can reach 60 Mph, well may be on a good slope downhill probably...

I know that's exactly my point too much money even for a single ebike ...even if it came's from HPC.

I dont have that much of an issue with the price tag.. put time into a build you have to charge for it.. if people are willing to buy it.. then so be it..

That's just it, in my eyes. You can go sell a bike with a 300% profit margin all day long and i don't give a crap. But when your product is badly engineered, tuned beyond the point of reliability, you are wildly dishonest in marketing it, then you won't hear the end of it from me.

Where are they claiming that it is continious power?

The set-up i had was rated 2500w but i am seeing 2800w peaks, so i dont get it.
