got a second hand KMX cobra [as new] and installed battery case, i got it below 10EUR and it perfectly accomodates 2x 6 22v5ah turnigy packs, being compact lightweight and quite strong. However i will have to waterproof it.

i also changed crankset to a high quality 2speed one with 140mm long crank arms. this will be better for my knees and give more clearance between battery case and legs

[i still have some of those cranks if anyone interested]

Next to do is to connect the packs to create 88v 15ah..

thanks!

has anyone already tried 54xx with lyen controller please?

according to Edward as below, but if someone has already made it working, i would highly appreciate the confirmation [never know if Kenny used the same colouring for this batch ;)

Lyen Controller to Crystalyte motor wire color lining:

Controller: Motor:
HALL:
Yellow Yellow
Green Blue
Blue Green

PHASE:
Yellow Blue
Green Green
Blue Yellow

100mm is a long one..

no it wont fit im afraid. but fits perfectly KMX trikes ;) and i guess any other pretty standard frames

i thought posting pictures were not advisable as many times they were dead after some time :)

yes the cranks look good + 140mm arm lenght gives you more clearace for placing bigger battery box in front...

today i changed the front tyres.. put Maxxis Snyper 2.25
i will be also changing the rear tyre to MTB

and also worked on mudguards ...

This is my off road setup with bigger clearance.. the cornering is not great but i will see how it goes. I only did few rounds with it today as the weather sucked.
But i have a feeling that Steintrike Mungo sport cornered better, not only because of 18/20 inch wheels but maybe because of front suspension and i found it easier to put my weight on sides..

maybe pushing the seat forward be good idea but i already have the boom max forward and if i push the seat forward the distance to the pedals will be too short...

Im planning to get also a set of 16/20 inch tyres for road riding.. one day!

first longer test with my KMX!!!!

mostly flats

with the replacement Crystalyte 24-72v 35a controller, at 44v nominal.

5405 behaves like sleeping beauty, very delicate, slow, gentle, quiet, totally cold after 40min of WOT but getting around 350-400W on WOT on flats in 26inch rim.. No issues whatsoever!

the axle thread luckily was only in the beginning of the end of axle [around 1 cm] and i think it was a human mistake rather than the manufacturing [someone just damaged the thread by forcing the bolt incorrectly]

hope to avoid other issues some of you have.

the cornering is unforgiving and unpredictable... comparing to FS Steini Mungo but i still need TIME to learn it. obviously 20/26inch will never corner but for reasonable riding it is perfect.

time for 16/20 inch setup ;)

this beast is great! if it keeps performing as it is, it will be my favourite ;)

Now time to do some offroad from from i can see, calling KMX trikes mountin tricycles is a joke!

test run

5405 in 26'' rim and 2.5 hookwarm tires
turnigy 30c 50v30ah
crystalyte 24-72v 35a
max speed 33 kmh at around 300-370W / +100W against the wind

i think it is pretty efficient

motor at start: 22C / after finish [1h ride on flats] 28C

another test run:

75,4v [66v nominal 66v30ah cells]

48-48.5kmh max at 1100-1200W on flat [depending on wind]

same xlyte 24-72v 35a controller

update:
1. change the placing of CA
2. shimano saint disc brakes [incredible stopping power!]
3. chain derailleur [clean]
4. pre-charge resistor with 125A switch
5. side battery box waterproofing [with bike rubber innertube..]

still to go:
1. new powerful controller
2. welding another side box handles
3. installing regen braking button [when 1 is done]
4. reverse gear switch [when 1 is done]
5. wheel block switch [when 1 is done]
