We'll, we can't meet up for a ride for a while though...I broke my collar bone into 3 pieces on thursday. A ~3" dia tree branch was at an angle in my path and it just kicked my front tire out from under me. SOAB! I'm down for the count I guess.

Nice batt box, do you have a break to bend it with?

Farfle, no hard feelings..I was just kickin up some dirt to try and help...

I just had a similar crash the other night when my front tyre went over a half inch stick and slid out while I was apexed on a bend. Only problem was I was entering a small tunnel and whent straight into the concrete wall and then was thrown out onto the path. No broken bones but a serious hematoma on my left elbow.
When in doubt, REV!! it out.

That's no good... Something like a month to heal?

A member bent the box for me. That made things easy.

I need to get some more batts, I've been using 80-100Wh/Mi...

Woot! Glad the box made it there, I think the axle nuts are either 1/2" coarse, or 7/16" coarse. also, the skinny swingarm has to have a spacer between the disk mount and the caliper on the front bolt.

Oooooo, ouch! Sorry to hear that! Do you have elbo pads?! ;) I was wearing full sleeve upper body armor, but all that padding and plastic didn't help with the impact to my collar bone. I wonder if there is body armor that has ridged sholder pads or something that can help protect the collar bone from seeing the full force of a shoulder impact?!

I just had surgury on it last night. They put in a plate and screws. They said it was so bad they had to put in a big plate so it will have to be removed once the bone heals. :|

I need more practice!

They said ~2 months before I can do normal stuff carefully. I guess it's a bad break.

Oh, cool. people on ES can be so nice, like Thud who helped me by doing the machining on my drive train components and making the two rear axle to kart sprocket adaptors I needed at a fair price!

I've got some thin ~1/16 3031 alu so it will be easy to bend for my batt box which will hold 20 of the 4s 5000mah hardcase packs in a 16s5p config. I'll post a pic of my sketchup using the frame and batt models you guys posted up here. Thanks for the models guys!!

This pic shows a 203mm line at the bottom bracket location to represent the 203mm BB cartridge (from sickbikeparts) that is on the bike to allow clearence for the the crank from the wide swing arm, motor and lipos. I like the peddles futher apart like this too!

80-100wh/mi?! Wow, is that 'cause you ride off road a lot? How much capacity do you have now?

I've got a question for you ZOM, I've got in my 13AWG wire to rewind my motor with, do you think you might be able to give me a (second  ) hand in doing the rewind? If you have the time of coarse!

Later guys,
Jay :)

My pack is 888Wh, I can kill it in a few minutes now.
I don't really do any offroading, nothing is close enough for me to be able to get there and back alone. I was just mostly doing repeated WOT runs, into regen, into WOT, testing out the new motor.

I'm probably going to snag another 24s2p config of the 4S packs if they ever show up in the US warehouse. That should make the range acceptable.

I have zero experience with RC setups, and definitely never rewound a motor. It sounds like a fair bit of work. It might be a fun project, but I don't have a whole lot of spare time lately. I probably have another few weeks before I even manage to get the bike done enough to start taking it anywhere, which would be nice.

Ah, your beating it to death! Hehe, cool, fun is fun!

I've had 16 of the 4s hardcase packs on backorder from the USA WH since the begining of March...so if you want some I'd get you order in ASAP. I've been trying to get HK to say they will be restocked for sure and they have finnaly said that they WILL be restocked so....that's good. It's a big deal for HK to give a straight answer, ya know! :|

No prob man, I've actually begun my rewind (1-1/2 handed :P ). The start came out good, but I can tell that I can't get 6turns of 13awg wire on there for a full rewind...sooooo close, but no go. I just got 14awg wire in today so I will be starting over and do a 14awg 6turn wye wind.

Also here is my latest sketchup with what I think will be the final lipo layout on my build.

Not going ahead and snapping one up in January is my bad. I'm regretting it now that I'm going with higher wattage.

I would be perfectly happy to send the new V3 swingarm jigs and machined/ bent/ laser cut partst o somebody who has a welder and some time, its the welding that takes 75% of the time. I can machine and bend the pieces for ten swingarms in an 8 hour day. But it takes 2-3 hours to weld and straighten each swingarm.

The reason I kept the price low this round is for a few reasons. First, I have finally settled on a good CNC shop, so I get small parts on a predictable time frame. Secondly, I want to hit a price point. For $350 I want to build a good semi-stretch FS frame with built in dropouts. lemme do a quick interest check, Would there be any interest in a few semi-assembled kit bikes? Something like a DIY package with a genesis frame, a decent headset, maybe a budget front suspension fork?

I think there would be interest if you can discount below the shipping costs & what someone can get locally.

The main thing you have going for you is your custom fab work and reasonable prices. I'd say there would be a hell of a lot more interest in a custom cromoly frame you could offer too. Long wheelbase & Surly fat tire could be awesome too. Motor mount like LFP has or in swing arm.

Definitely doing a SwingArm designed to take some hub/geared motor like JohnCR or a Mac geared belt/chain drive would be awesome too. Don't price yourself high imo. Plenty of rich guys can buy other stuff, but it's much harder for us lower budget guys to afford stuff. We don't need another high-end guy hocking wares on ES that are too pricey for most. Imo. Most ES members don't have a lot of money. You're young & can still afford to gain a whole hell-of-va lot more experience making things for less $. Later on, you can make "real money" if you are so motivated, or when you have your own family to support. ES is more fun hobby and not a business. Start small, price low, grow to gain a lot of experience 1st.

I'd definitely be interested in a tough steel frame at that price point, given that it has battery space.
That would be the holy grail for eBikes.
