9C Electric Bicycle Kit W/36V 10ah LiFePo Battery-SOLD!

Postby StudEbiker » Wed May 02, 2012 2:01 pm

For sale today is a 9C rear wheel 750w direct drive electric motor kit. This kit also includes a 36V 10AH LiFePo4 (Headway) battery that is integrated into a rear rack.

The battery has a Ping V2 BMS. The battery locks into the rack and has a key switch for powering off the bicycle when you are not near it. The kit is originally from E-bikekit.com and includes a 22amp controller.

The throttle tab has been broken off, but I have put a screw into it to use as the thumb tab and it works fine. Top speed on this kit is 22mph, and usable range is about 20 miles depending on terrain and how much you pedal.

The motor is currently mounted into a 26" disc brake only mountain bike wheel. Perfect if you have disc brakes already on your bike or have mounting bosses.

This has been my personal kit for a couple of years now.

Thanks. :)

Just to add a couple of things.

I'd prefer to keep the wheel, but I will include it in the sale if that's what the buyer wants. It is in a Sun Single Track wheel.

This is also one of the early 9Cs with the spin on disc. It's never been hot rodded, it has just been used as a commuter. I have on rare occasions drained over 6ah from the battery, but never more than 7ah that I can recall.

I would rather be paid by check. If the buyer wants to pay by Paypal, I'd ask that the purchaser pay the fees.

Nice Price. I noticed that you do not have chains on, does that means that there is no gears mounted on the rear hub for pedaling?

No, there are rear gears on the motor. The picture is from when I was first putting everything together on that bike. More pictures of the kit can be seen in the link to the build thread in my sig.

No can do. Sorry. It fits in too well with the flock around here. A Studebaker, a TidalForce, and a Bike E. All great companies that were ahead of their time that no longer exist. :P

By the way, I am from Texas and lived in Austin for a year. Happy that the kit is going there, kinda wish I was going with it.

Does this kit come with a charger or is that something I need to buy? If so what do I get?

I put a 2A LiFePo4 charger in the box. You're good to go. :)

I did notice when I was taking the phase wires apart that they had gotten warm and the plastic had melted some. The connectors were corroded too. I took some sand paper to the connectors and cleaned them up, but you may want to replace those with something better.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Awesome thanks! and when I figure out what the above means I'll be sure to do that. ;) Anything else I need to know or can I just ride it during the day and charge it for awhile at night?

The battery has a BMS in it with LEDs that light up. One for each cell for a total of 12 LEDs. When they are all lit, the battery is fully charged. I haven't been riding the bike regularly for awhile now, so initially you'll want to put the charger on and leave it on for awhile until all the LEDs light up.

It is very important to periodically charge the battery even if you aren't using it (say in the winter time) because if you don't the BMS can drain one of your cells completely dead. Eventually, you will want to either get a Turnigy Watt Meter (less costly, fewer features) or a Cycle Analyst (more costly, more features) to monitor your pack and how much power you have used while you are out riding. It acts like a fuel gauge.

I have tried to keep my discharges below 5AH to preserve the life of the battery. The deeper you drain the battery between charges, the earlier you will need to replace the battery.
