If they are from the US, then they are probably just drop-shipping some random vendor's stuff from China, ordering it from the vendor only after you order it from them, and having the vendor send it straight to you. Given the assortment of oddball junk they also sell, I doubt they stock any of that.

Anyone ever buy from JoyFay? I don't know any credibility on this site. They say they are from the U.S. but the shipping is awfully high to be local. They are cheaper than PING batteries though and include the BMS and 6A charger.

The batteries at joyfay.com appear to be Codd Power Soft Series batteries http://www.coddpower.com/pack-16s.html It also seems that there has been some difficulty buying directly from Codd Power, although one ES member was able to find a price list on their site, which shows lower pricing than anyone else, if they would actually sell to anyone! http://www.coddpower.com/price/pack%20price.pdf You can find another website that sells Codd Power batteries here http://lifepo4.in/index.html You may be interested in following up with a discussion about packs in this ES thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26591&hilit=codd+power Since both of you are first-time, one-time only posters, and the original question was about "crediblilty" it would appear that unless someone with more history dealing with JoyFay comes along, their is no crediblity.

If the battery is not working, and you buy from a foreign company, it may cost you an arm and leg to return....At least this joyfay.com has a phone number that is in the US, I would try calling them to see their return policy first

It is an unlisted number from a residential address. Another clue might be that it is listed on their website in an international (Chinese) format; +001 (510) 9843568
I called the number (1-510-9843568 as 001 is invalid) and got a recording.

"We will ship your item within 3 business days and another 4-7 business days for shipping. Tracking number will be provided as soon as we ship."
This explains joyfay. As AW pointed out, it is a drop shipper from China.

I dug pretty hard each time one of them posted up, and didn't find anything linking them to a spam site or to joyfay, but that doesnt' mean antyhing either. Since I am still fairly certain they are just spammers, but have no proof yet, I am still keeeping an eye on them to see when they come back and stick a spam link in their posts, so I can nuke them.

Well I've been researching what ebike kit to buy and I've settled on the Phoenix II 7240 Power System Only.. http://www.electricrider.com/crystalyte ... xiikit.htm . I called electricrider about an hour ago and they answered a bunch of questions for me and the only thing I need to figure out is if I want to go sensorless or sensored.

Anyway, I've also been hunting around for batteries and was looking at pingbattery ''48V 20AH V2.5 LiFePO4'' and also found the joyfay ''48V 20Ah LiFePO4 Battery Pack Free BMS+6A Charger NEW''. I had questions about both and shot off and e-mail to both companies last night.

For pingbatteries my question was about the upgraded BMS. I found out the current limit gets raised to 60A if you order the high current BMS. My e-mail got answered quickly..

For the joyfay pack I wanted to know the exact weight of the battery and BMS, not just the shipping weight as I noticed is listed on Codd Power http://lifepo4.in/48v40ah-.html where I first saw the battery. I got a very quick response telling me the weight of both packs I asked about. ''the 48V is 26 lbs and the 60V is around 31 lbs. We have the 48V in stockin the US but the 60V one will have to be shipped from overseas.'' I then asked about the 3000W 120A BMS upgrade on the 48v pack and was informed that pack would have to be shipped from overseas - takes about 10 to 15 days. All these emails to joyfay were answerd in less than a couple hours.

Well, at least that part went well. At joyfay they show this -- ''Hassle-free Return PolicyLocated in Ohio, USA, we have warehouses in Ohio, California, USAand London, United Kingdom. For any reason you don't like your order, simply return it to any warehouses within 7 days after you receive your order. You just need to keep it in its original conditions. You will receive 100% money back once we receive your return.''

7 days isn't enough time to know if the battery voltage sags way down after the battery is broken in.. especially if you don't have the ebike put together yet. I'll have to email him and ask more about exchange policy, etc.

So I found this thread after doing a Google search trying to find out the quality of joyfay batteries, or just people's luck with them.

I'll search more threads.. but in the meantime, does anybody have any experience with joyfay or know of anyone who does? It seems like a good deal if the battery perfoms well.

After more research and reading on this forum, I have decided against JoyFay for the very reasons you mentioned. It's not as if I'm not doing my homework here.

There could be some huge savings there IF, and that's a BIG IF, things worked out and the pack works properly. I'll probably go with a Ping pack or Lipo from the RC world. I'm still wondering why nobody sells a 48v20ah lipo pack (or other voltage/amp-hour combinations) with the necessary BMS and charger needed for reliable operation and sells it as an all-in-one e-bike pack. Seems as though there would be a huge demand for such a product if the price is right. Maybe someone does and I just haven't found it yet.

Whenever an unknown supplier pops up, we do some basics. We check for a physical address. We do a reverse look-up on the phone number. Look for a business license in the area? In the case of JOYFAY, the results speak for themselves. There is often an ES member who lives in the area of a questionable supplier. Sometimes they drop by the business and ask some questions.
In your search you may come across a giant battery scam which was conducted from Lacey, WA.

They had the lowest price LiFePo4 cells by about 10%. Many ES members lost all their money on this one. When asked for a physical address, they declined. This was enough for some of us to take our business elsewhere. Close call for me.
Perhaps you could start a new thread with the fact you are looking for a 48V pack with BMS? Searching for something specific is sometimes very challenging on ES. Be patient, there are a ton of experienced people here, and they are very responsive. Most have jobs, and don't monitor ES all day.
It can be very informative, to just spend some time blindly browsing the many forums. Get a feel for what is where.

Read some more on LIPO using a BMS. The BMS fails and you have a little fire on your hands. I think you will find most LIPO users', balance once a week or once a month because, they don't enjoy the little fires? Lipo reminds me of a magnesium flare dropped in a rubber liferaft, which had 6" of water in it. Oh no, we have a hole in the raft. BUT THE FLARE IS GONE

I am also on the hunt for a quality built lifepo4 pack . So far i'm sure I want a123 round cells. Looking for a two peice 48volt 20-30ah pack, with bms built in.
Ping is out, not enough punch, I'm running 1500 watt bmc motor. I'm not saying it can't be done with a ping. I am looking for higher c rate. I plan on flogging this thing. falconev sounds good but.........
Leaning toward cell_man. But he's unavailable till sometime in dec.
I've heard good things about him and his product.

Dec is not so far away. Unless you live somewhere in the 12 month sunshine and want to get going.
Just one caution; If a supplier gives you a choice between 2 products, find out which is best and why? As a new buyer don't get yourself caught in the "you made the choice" trap, when it does not do the job for you. Buy a little bit more capacity than you think you need, unless you are 50kg's soaking wet and going down hill, with a tail wind, both there and back. On the other hand if you are in good shape and pedal like a demon, add that factor into the mix.
After 2 weeks on a 1000W 24" hubmotor with 48V 12Ah pack, I thought I had over done it and was thinking of switching to 1KW 26" hubmotor. Then I went a few KM more than usual, with some groceries, and barely made it home. Finding the best rig for you can be a difficult calculation. As Dogman says, an abnormally strong headwind all the way home and he is screwed.

anybody bought any batterys or cells from mistertao.com been looking at the a123 20ah and they seem really cheap but am a bit confused and suspicious of the ratings as under the search result listing it might have 4 diamonds but then on the page the sellers dont have any feedback or just 1 heart and states its risky but it seems like that for all sellers ive looked at but priced up 24 cells with the shipping calculator using the 480g x24 weight for a guide and getting a total with express ems shipping of $638.72!!! thats 24 a123 20ah cells shipped to the uk including 22.5% import tax for under 500gbp but im of the opinion if it sounds too good to be true....... id certainly give it a shot at buying 1 cell and see if it arrives lol take a look http://www.mistertao.com/taobao-product ... 44454.html
