was planning on it after i figured out the mounting, but now that i've got the female connector, might be easy enough to yank power if i need to go dark.

thanks for posting the bracket pic. i woulda never figured that out! mighta been nice if it came w/ a couple screws!

I have made some modifications to mine, i added a low beam of a "Halo" design around the housing, when i first did this and switched it on it blew the led string because of the rise in the output voltage from the dropper. I have now removed the dropper and got my lights onto a 3s battery, this has also given me a constant brightness on the rear light regardless of the different current draw of the high and low beam front lights.

get a new CA if you don't have one and save money on batteries and converters... CA plugs right into this, which solders easy to light wire.

I purchased 2 of the 1800 lumen cree's off ebay. They shipped fast from China and they come with a 8v lipo rechargable battery and it comes with a wall wart charger. Very bright. I've had them for a couple of months no complaints. I bought it from

Have you tried them? I have xml 6 based flashlights with similar reflector shape but the beam is to narrow and concentrated in 1 point for headlight use (have posted picture somewhere at the beginning of this tread). Maybe a picture of your light in use?

Almost forgot, XML t6 is actually about 800-1200 lumen at room temperature, with very optimistic 100 lumens per watt efficacy (in perfect laboratory condition I suppose). I can think of 1800 lumens output in freezing condition at -40C and lot of current killing efficacy. :D

wow limit throw lumen area? My solarforce L2P with Manafont Ultrafire drop-in XM-L P60 host and they throwy and floody. I would say near 800-1000 lumen area but don't have the lumen measure. I'll take picture with MTBR's standard preset ISO 100 and 6 seconds exposure and f4/6 shutter setting to compare yours.

@Greg- Thanks for the picture and perfect for me to compare yours to my solarforce L2P flashlight with modded manafont UF drop-in.

As a comparison this is a pic of the Led Lenser H14 lamp which is rated at 200 Lumens. I would trust that the 200 Lumen rating on this device is factual.

This seems to be great deal, I've already got a strong light like this but I use normal batteries to power it and cos of that, the brightness of the battery decreases as battery dies...I was wondering if I should buy this and forget my headlight or buy this and replace the light with mine?

oK

The light is bright enough to be used by itself i am really happy with it. Only issue that i am having is how much power it appears to be drawing.

Anyone else got one of these plugged into the AUX voltage port on their CA. When mine is plug into it is says its using 200W of power. Seems really high LOL.

Something is wrong there, this light uses about 12W or less.

Well that would explain the brightness then!

What you are probably finding is that it is dragging a bit of current through the CA's power wires and causing the CA's ground be differential to the ground sense wire on the shunt. Not 100% on the internals of the CA, I used a dedicated shunt amplifier chip in my clone to avoid this stuff. I'd run it in parallel to your controller, then you can measure the true draw.

At least with all the room in the rear of the light you could fit the DC:DC in there and a switch too...

Nah its all been sorted out with Justin and Hyenas help

Turns out the new Aux Voltage plug on the CA requires the wires to be hooked up in a particular way inside the controllers.

In my case the CA-DP plug had pin 2 and 3 connected at the plug then both connected to gnd in the controller.

To get it to work properly i needed to connect pin 3 to gnd and pin 2 to the mosfet side of the shunt. After doing this i also needed to re zero my CA units amps measurement.

End result is that no the CA says that the light is consuming 9W of power at 75V so all good 8)

There is pretty comprehensive pictures of the internals of the CA's at ebikes.ca

Go and look and see if your version is there.

Not really clear what you are actually thinking of hooking up there TBH :? Power to light or something else?

Yea planning to plug it into my headlight. I've been using separate battery to power it up but this light seems pretty cool idea.
