Hi peoples ,

Just like to say going to do another ebike with dual suspension .Brought a brand new Giant Trance x3 for $1600 just have to wait 2 weeks though .. at the moment my ebike is a Alias Giant bike .

Should of brought a dual suspension bike ages ago the ride so smooth .

So what are your side covers made of and how do you get the attached etc.

Just interested for ideas for my next battery box.

I used 1.6 aluminum sheet for the hole box and made the two brackets holding the box on top with 1.6 and where the drink bottle goes i just used two longer bolts to hold the bottom of the box, it's pretty strong .Battery is a nice fit it's a 10amp 48v ping ,.i'll add some close up pics if you like ..

Yeah i was more interested in the sides of the box only. Are they hinged on or bolted. are they two pieces or one big piece.

Your first bike looks very similar to what I've been planning for my Alias. A few of questions if you don't mind:

1) Is that a Mac motor?

2) Did you have any trouble with brake calliper clearance on either bike?

3) Did you use the 9 speed freewheels that came with both bikes? Any trouble fitting them (i.e. did you need a spacer washer and/or have to spread the dorpouts)?

4) How does the thuduster on the Alias hardtail ride? Tell me I don't need to buy a new bike as well...

No it's not a Mac motor it's a 400w geared Ezee from ebikes.ca on the flat easily does 40km/h and can climb hills easy too but you wont brake any land speed records ..lol
On my first bike i just used 2 small washes on the back brake caliper to line it up with the disk but the new bike i didn't have to do anything just went straight on with no hassles .
My first bike had a 9 speed cassette and derailleur and had no problems there with the new bike it had a 10 speed cassette and derailleur so i had to buy a 9speed derailleur and just used the cassette that was on the Ezee wheel .The Ezee wheel comes with a small spacer washer so it doesn't rub against the cassette {freewheel} .
The thuduster great but you can't beat dual suspension bike i recommend if you can afford it buy a dual suspension bike the ride is very smooth .You need a very soft seat too for a comfortable ride .

one thing tho..I think you should change how your phase wires are going out from the hub...your setup may cause water to drip down into the hub...

Yeah once you go full suspension, you will never go back. Now my hard tail is collecting dust. I might off load it to someone here on the forum.

Gday neptronix, didn't think it needed torque plates it's not overly torqueie Hub motor it's only 400w geared motor and it came with small torque washes and the axle fits pretty tight in the bike frame .

What bike do you own ?

I've got a 2008 Giant Alias in storage. Was thinking of kitting it out with a BMC or MAC torque wound motor and 12s2p of lipo (16Ah) when I return to Oz latter this year.
My budget may streach far enough for a new bike.

It's much better to have them than not. Anytime the motor turns forwards, the axle pushes backwards against the dropouts.

Without torque arms, the only thing keeping the axle from turning is friction from the nuts being done up tight. If your axle nuts come loose, your dropouts will spread or snap easily.

The shop I work at sells the eZee kit torque arm which is an easy option, but it looks like you could easily fabricate something nicely integrated yourself.

The battery box you made is super slick, very clean conversion!

Was going to post in this anyway and say low the frame and the layout of the box. Cant believe how much room that triangle has cant believe I did'nt spot this model earlier Well done looks great.

Also yes I would get the dropouts or make your own. Why risk it its not worth it.

Hi guys taken your advice and brought a torque arm and thanks for the positive comments ..Added a pic with some mudguards on if i go for a dirt ride .

Had a problem today was going to go for a nice ride along the beach and the bike was playing up had to pull the motor apart and found a wire that was lose .Hopefully my soldering will hold and it's a know problem with these motors .viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36819

Best to re-solder all 5 wires to the PCB while you have it open. If there's enough wire length, place through the holes and solder, instead of laying the wire simply on top of the hole. Afterword, check under the PCB with a flashlight and check that the solder has not bridged between hall wire connections underneath the PCB's thru-holes.

How do you find pedeling power of your bike? I like pedelling around 20 kph without assistance on a flats but finding it hard on my new dh comp build, My first ebike was a cheap ebay full suspension setup and I'm sure I could pedal on flats easier then the DH Comp. Could be the extra weight or sprocket setup. So I'm already starting to think about a light Trance build with x3 8ah 6s lipos

Gday Duc998,i don't find it to hard too pedal with my setup .What motor have you have ? Battery i use is a ping 48v 10amp and i manage to get 45k with some pedaling average speed 30km/h.
