I am planning on a 29er build, at this point neptronix has pretty much sold me on getting an 8T as he is worried that the 6T at 48V on a 29er may be too much and burn up the motor. But now there is a 7T. What do yall think about a 7T at 48V on a 29er. Keep in mind that there are absolutely no hills where I live (NOLA) - none. And I do not plan on going full throtlle for any length of time (no more than 1 minute). Do you think the 7T would be a good motor to try? I hear the 8T at 12S may put me around 30mph (which is plenty fast for me), but there are times I will want to just pull ahead of my stinkpot (49cc) friend who tops at about 30mph - just to remind him the power of a volt-ampere or two. Thanks yall.

I have it in a 26 inch MTB on 12s lipo with a 12fet controller, it runs 33mph on the flat with Pauls standard controller settings.
To me it seems it has plenty of torque, but its my first build. 33mph is the limit for how fast I want to ride, and even there its quite spooky (and windy)
I love it!

Sounds like a great set up

Yeah also did a lot of reading before buying, have the four 8Ah bloks and the controller in a triangle bag from Paul, so no visual wires and stuff. But always have the zipper open 10cm when driving so the controller dont get hot. And its so easy when only 12s charge and connect with parallel cables.

neptronix wrote:erm, isn't it at 700c wheel with a 2in. tire on it?
That is what many bicycle shops have told me.
Bicycle wheel sizes are based off the total diameter of the expected tire plus the rim itself.
So for example, a 20" wheel in bike terms is a 16" wheel in motorcycle terms, because there is usually a gigantic tire on the thing.

When a 29 inch I too would choose an 8T, in strong headwinds i can definelty feel the 7T is a high speed wind. So the 8T must be perfect for you.
I spend a lot of time trying to decide the battery setup, but having the oppertunity to hide the controller and all the wires in the triangle made me go lipo, thats the main reason. It ended up costing the same and with 16Ah, I only have 2Ah more than Pauls a123 when 15% being left in the lipo bricks.
