Electrec E-bike (same as Lashout, Rayos) - $200

Postby 7lions » Mon May 07, 2012 4:14 pm

I bought this bike hoping that I could adapt its electric system to my trike. A crystalyte setup proved to be a better option, and I can't ride upright bikes due to CTS, so this is up for sale. The bike is in really great shape, except for the 24V Lead-Acid pack, which gives only about 6 miles of range before abruptly dying. With new Lead-Acid Batteries, you can expect around 15-20 miles. Top speed is about 19 mph, and acceleration is really quite good.

I'm asking $200 as is, with local pickup in Indianapolis, or a meetup not too far from here. I'm not very interested in shipping the bike, but could be talked into it.

I can gladly install new SLA's if someone wants - just cover the cost of the batteries - probably about $60. 6S LiPo would be a great option, too. You could probably cram at least 20Ah in that battery box. I have some that we could work a deal on if you want to go that route.

Great starter bike! Been bashing mine for a year now. Its upgradeable but imho its best kept at 24v. You can fit four 6s 5000s in the box. Great torque with a solid 20mph. Stock motor with built in esc can't be overvolted. Superkids sell a 48-72v capable upgrade but the components really start to fall apart under that kinda power. I still run mine hard at 1800w peaks but its falling apart slowly. Good luck with the sell.

Adam, I am also really impressed with it for what it is. If I could ride it for any length of time without losing feeling to my hands, this would be my commuter. It might look like a Currie drive, but this one is much better engineered.

I've seen a few folks use the BMC motor setup as a BB drive. That was the route I wanted to go with the trike, but couldn't find an effective way to mount the motor without obstructing my legs.

If nothing else, it's a BEEFY frame with monster dropouts. It would probably make a great platform for a hubmotor if somebody outgrows the stock drive.

Don't cheat yourself bro. These go on craigslist for $400 all the time. I got mine for $200 in worst condition then yours.

Ill take it off your hands for that $150 +shipping cost if shipping can be kept low. I don't need the rims. My swingarm is loose as a goose and it never rode the same after the car hit.

Sorry for the slow reply - your response somehow got by while I wasn't looking.

Sending you the electrified frameset could actually work out very well. I have a good home for the wheels.

I'll look into what we'd be looking at shipping-wise. I assume you'd prefer that I remove the old and busted gel cells before shipping, right?

Would you be open to Greyhound Package Express? It might be substantially cheaper. You would have to go pick it up at the station, though.

Another idea to minimize shipping would be to remove the swingarm for shipment. That would cut down on the long dimension quite a bit.

Rough guesstimate via GPX, without wheels, is $72.

I'm interested in the drive unit if neither of you want it.
