E crf 250

Postby Farfle » Thu May 10, 2012 10:44 pm

Heya guys, I have always dreamed of building an enduro/ds style bike, something that can jump a curb, but still stick the street like glue. So, a titled 2006 crf 250 with a blown motor just came up on craigslist for 600 bucks with new plastic. I'm thinking a triple pie, or one of the pms (lol) series motors from heinzman, agni maybe? Looking for very peppy performance up to 50mph, with a top end around 60-70mph, but 80 or 90 would be acceptable too  I only need a range of around 25-30 miles, so battery space isn't an issue. Would this frame be a good candidate?
The race bike:
24s5p 50c nano tech
Badass custom mofo outrunner 205x177mm 26kv
Peak power in : 318A at 91v
Peak power out: 24 Hp and 151ft/lb

Build to last...
"It will be assaulted by the elements, It will be ravaged by time and it will be destroyed by the user. BUT, if you Stick to the little rules: K.I.S.S., Overbuild everything, and test, review, revise, repeat. It will last"

50 rpm per volt... it is perfect - no double reduction needed.

Good value per $ versus the agni and other similar motors.

The all-arounder: 8T MAC motor on a Trek 4500.
The girlfriend bike: 350W front MAC on a 700c Trek.
The wheelie machine: 20" Rear Magic Pie II on a Trek 4300 MTB
The Bus: ??? on a 'da bomb' cargo bike frame

Pro-tips for noobs: Avoid BMS Battery like the plague | Charge RC Lipos to 4.15v, stop discharging at 3.5-3.6v | Use torque plates/arms! | Rear mounted hubs are always best

Zero is selling their drivetrain / batteries. 28hp in that bike would probably be good. Making a triple wide Magic pie would be pretty decent as well. http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/powertrains/ . $600 seems like really good deal for that bike.

Nice! I would love to see pics! I think you may have one of the first 111R motors in a dirtbike. :-)

Good for him! He already had it priced less than the fork would cost. If you find something that's already drastically underpriced.....DON'T FREAKING HAGGLE! Makes me sick.

This is really inspiring me, as I have a couple of late 70's monoshock YZ80 frames begging for a purpose in life higher than going on Craigslist...

Not street legal, but very light and nible...considering they're m/c frames and not bicycles.
