New project - Electric skateboard

I wanted to share with you the process of convert 600W electric skateboard to RC equipment

The equipment:

Motor : Hacker A60-16L 168KV
Controller : RC Cars 150A sensorless
Battery : 6S 20A total
Throttle: WII Nunchuk


First step:
The board was old and ugly, I peeled the top coating and sand it.
Then I did the wood repairs, and a thin layer of epoxy. After the epoxy has dried sand it again and got a very smooth surface.

Next step:
At this point I covered the surface with carbon
I put Epoxy on the wood , then carbon on the surface let it absorbed the glue .

After drying I cut the leftovers and sand. It is important to put super glue on the corners and sand again to ensure coating will not hurt the rider and will look good after long time...

After assembling the wheels it looks good

The next steps will be the motor mount and sprockets..

I take it you gonna be mounting the motor on the original torsion truck,
btw, you should switch out those wheels,
those things are super slow....

Thanks for the reference

The link you gave me is for 250W skateboard
I convert 600W bigger skateboard with bigger wheels (originally going 30 km/h)


The project continues -sprockets and motor mount
Because of the availability of the components I chose to use 25# chain
I cut motor mount from 1cm aluminum:

Since there were many scratches on the motor I repainted it.. Carbon wheel adapters for 35 sprocket also cutted:

Installed a cage to protect the motor and controller . the controller position will give me better cooling and prevent motor wires broken over time due to movements:

To put the chain I have to finish the chain adjuster and buy screws for motor cage ... hope to update soon

I like the look of the motor controller being mounted there, but I'm concerned it may be heated up by the motor.
On that note: I hope you used "high-heat" paint on that thing.

Looks real nice so far. When you get this thing done do yourself a favor and document it as nicely as you have done so far.
Don't let my comments scare you out of changing anything... but perhaps order a second ESC "just in case".

Thank you for your concern but it will be OK for several reasons:
1. If the motor warms up enough to hurt in the controller you load it too much .. from my experience with motors in this size they not supposed to warm up the speed of 30 km/h with 80kg rider . had 2 scooters and skateboard with 6374 So I can be sure in my decision to place it there..

2. Even if the motor warms up the heat will not get to the controller, there is space of 2 cm between them

3. Controller also never heat because the currents which pass through it are from 15 to 40 amps

I have the same setup on my MBS Carveboard.. it work great for few months

The project finished a month ago but did not have time to update the thread on the forum..
I preferred to keep the HACKER motor to my next project so i put inside EMP 200KV from leadershobby (which required me to switch the pinion to 11 teeth to stay at the same speed)

The battery case built from leftovers of Carbon and fiberglass, do not care about beauty because it scratches by sidewalks anyway.

I bought a transmitter of SKYFLY at $ 25, I took the battery case and put LiPo 11.1 360MAH

This skateboard if funnnn , average speed of 29 km\h ( battery 3.7V per cell ) and very stable ride on the asphalt part ..
