I have a fair bit of experience blowing up 12 FET Infenions with 4110's.

As far as I took it, was roughly 120/240A. It lasted 10 miles or so before cooking only a single FET, and rather softly. It probably would have been OK much longer if I wasn't stalling it into a wall at WOT to see if it would take it. In daily use, I was running it at 80/180 and it lasted thousands of miles on my 1000W Golden, quite a few on the 5404, and still works at those power levels but has since been decommissioned for a gigantic controller.

You should be able to get at least 20% more out of an 18 FET.

I wanted say thank you FarFie (for custom extended swing arm), Jeremy and HAL/Accountant from Croatia. I received 2 hubzilla/CroMotor today.

Now, I need start order some parts like 18 or 24 FETs controller and already have LiPo battery pack available 16S 20Ah or 32S 10Ah.

Here picture. Hubzilla mounted Farfie's custom extended swing arm (for Genesis frame).

I think Jeremy included some washers? Something is needed there.

Holes look the same size as I have in my cromotors... anything smaller than 10g ll go through.
So if you plan to use bicycle spokes, washers will be mandatory.

We may be talking about different washers here. The spoke holes are pretty large, and may need washers (mine did for 12G spokes but mine has only the one set of larger spoke holes).

Stevil made washers for my motor. I believe they are aluminum and he made a tool to swage them into a cone shape.

Then there are the axle spacer washers. Needed on both sides to space the dropouts away from the rotating parts of the hubmotor. Jeremy may have included something for that, I don't know for certain.

I will going use real motorcycle spokes, I think 10g spokes with the motorcycle rim and I will use pirelli M75 tire. It ought very strong and handle high abuse and stress.

I am waiting for Nord-Lock washer before secure the nut bolt in.

Sweet motor is here! Ugh did anyone else get charged duty fees to Canada :S $140 something. I get the package on Monday.

PS. Before Monday, does anyone know a good way to dispute the brokerage fee from UPS :S. Been reading around I see some successful attempts but not really sure if it would work.

If you know of a way for me to reduce the fee for Canadian buyers without being shady please let me know. That's a pretty steep duty fee, seems like they don't want you guys to be electric.

What does that $140 go to, the governments pocket?

My experience shipping to Canada is never to use UPS, and that even USPS is expensive.

Brokerage fees probably go to a broker, if that's what they are.

You might be able to declare wholesale costs instead of retail, if fees are based on cost. I don't recall fees with USPS.

I was reading around and everyone said not to use ups :s to late for me now, the other option is to other mark it as gift somewhere on the package but that sometimes doesn't work. Other then that I'm still googling it to see what else we can do :s

Ship it visa USPS and duties go away. UPS is screwing over Canadians bad! I'd go with priority mail international.

Its UPS, I wish I new that from the beginning USPS only charges about $5 at max plus GST and that happens only like 1% of the time. Zombiess, Do you think you can give me a little bit of a refund to pay off this ridiculous fee from UPS. If not thats fine, I understand that you have to pay off your bills too. But though I'd asked.

it is UPS. USPS uses the Canadian Government or more actually our post office as the broker and the fees are very reasonable. $7 flat rate plus the GST (Tax) and any applicable duties. and for stuff like this there are no duties.

UPS on the other hand charges #1 -a handling fee based on the article value to forward it to a broker. this is charged even if they are the broker. under a certain value it is one amount. over that value it is a higher amount. there is also an additional charge of overweight items. #2 -a brokerage fee as a percentage of article value, and #3 -interest on the money they are lending you to cover the tax and customs.

on top of these it is also not usual to find other fees added because there is some "Special" or "Exception" found because there is a claim of incomplete statements or valuation by the shipper, receiver or both. and once they have your stuff, you are more or less forced to accept their version and pay it, or you plain don't get your stuff. i'd call it extortion, but....

UPS has faced several class action law suits over this. but so far they have come out on top. the excuse being "Due Diligence" ie. that the receiver should have been aware of the charges before accepting as the shipper. truth is that UPS hides these charges from both the shipper and the receiver until the bill is presented. even if you call most customer service reps cannot or will not detail all charges tha you could face. they only seem to know what they are unless they are explaining to you why you have to pay them before you get your stuff.

UPS is very dishonorable when they are dealing with shipping beyond the US border. they blame UPS Canada, who of course blame UPS USA. never mind that both are part of the same UPS.

not unusual to pay $60 UPS fees on an article that is $20.01. even though a $20.00 item would not be charged any duty or tax by the Canadian government. that $20 does include shipping in the total.

Best course of action might be to refuse shipment so they return the motor to me. I'll. Use a different shipper after i get it back since ups wants to be scum bags. I sent all packages with adult signature required.

I chose ups for their tracking and avoiding paypal fee reversals after being ripped off twice on eBay deals I made to Canada and lost both the product and the money. Until these motors I refused to do any business with people in Canada because of all the scammers.

I will no longer be using ups for people who order from Canada. Luckily I've only had one that I shipped there so far.

My experience, for heavy packages, is to use UPS for the lower 48 states, and USPS for Alaska, Hawaii, and all foreign shipments. This is based on shipping cost. However foreign shipment risks are definitely higher, though in hundreds of shipments I've yet to lose one, though a few get damaged or take an amazingly long time. Ebay attracts a different type of customer so risks there are higher.

My Cromotor direct from Croatia was not damaged but the packaging was "used up", the cardboard and foam were just about pulverized on arrival here.

My experience here in the UK is similar. UPS always hit you hard with charges, USPS, Canada Post, EMS etc are pretty much always the cheapest, but the packages do seem to get a rough ride.

Update about UPS:

Alright, So I called in to the billing department at UPS, first thing I asked was If there was a COD on the package and how much. I told them that was a high value for me to pay and asked for the break down. I ask them If they could pardon the brokerage fee. They said that they can take off $20 max. Where my brokerage fee is $71 something and Tax was $70 something. So I told them that if they would be able to pardon the whole fee in total because Im a university student and don't make alot of money. So then she said to please wait and she will ask her supervisor. She came back and was able to take off $60! Man Was I so happy. So my total cost for it to be shipped to Canada with duty and brokerage fees is $84.78 vs $140. The trick is to be nice with the person on the phone don't get pissed off. But still next time shipping USPS to Canada post would still be better just because they don't always charge taxes. Hopefully anyone who reads this msg will find it helpful and good luck to the other people that try.

Motor arrived today. Trying to figure out how I should lace it and if I need brass washers for my 13-14 spokes. My main concern is that the bicycle drillings only have Countersinking on the outer side of the disc-side flange. Other than that the axle is around 9.95mm and cosmetically she looks good.

Just finished lacing mine today with 14 Gauge spokes. First time doing it hehe.Ps i started the spokes at the wrong spot xD so you will notice the place you place air in is off. I may fix it later on lol.

Laced mine up too. Also noticed that at least on my motor the bicycle drillings aren't the same on both flanges. One side has the holes near right on center between the moped spoke holes, but on the other side they are skewed 1-2mm towards an eyelet. I doubt insists has a huge effect on performance but wanted to bring it up.

Do you guys think I can do a little joy ride without lock washers just because I don't have any atm? (.5" dropouts with a little pinch and nut elbow grease

I wont go into details, but i ll be using thick steel clamped dropouts on my next cromotor builds for sure...
