Perfect, thanks :)

Good point, chilledout - I hadn't realised I'd have to disassemble the motor.

The best place to buy a hubmotor is locally from someone selling an ebike or escooter with dead batteries, or a loose wire, or not running for whatever reason than the motor. Get yourself an ebike tester and you could easily test the motor before buying.

The next best place is from someone here on the forum in the For Sale Used section.

Your money goes a lot further this way.

I've bought 2 gm 901 kits from Devi Motion - no problems. The 901s seem to be the typical generic Chinese 1000w hubs. The gm external controller looks like it came out of an Xmas cracker but is "feature rich" and seems to be indestructible at design voltages. It also seems to deliver as specified, 30 amp peak, 20 amp sustained. Good for about 30mph at 48v. The one caveat is if you want to run a rear disk, the supplied hub adapter is 6 bolt but not spaced to the ISO spec so get their rotor.

John,

Unfortunately ebikes seem surprisingly rare around here. Bikes/scooters over the 250W limit are even rarer and I've not seen anything suitable for sale secondhand at a reasonable price.

I did browse the For Sale section on here, but nothing available atm.

I'll keep and eye out for future upgrade parts.

Caliban, thanks for the reassurance :)

Do you happen to know if this is the disc I need?

It's the only one they sell, so I'd hope so.

I was assuming that if they sell the disc it would fit their adapter which would fit their hub. But it would be worth checking with the guy at Devi motion (Denis?). I had to drill and tap mine to suit a standard disc rotor- not so easy to keep it perfectly aligned.

I ordered the kit and disc yesterday so hopefully it'll fit. Otherwise I'll make it fit
