I have more parts left over from my project that I'd like to sell. If you're getting ready to build something or planning to build in the future, this is a great opportunity to get drivetrain parts!

I've been working on building a very awesome e-bike prototype for the last few years and I'm really close to being able to finish it. Even though I keep saying I'm giving up, I can't. The proceeds from these items will go to buying some parts and sustaining me while I focus on building it.

The only payment I can accept is US postal money orders. These are available at any post office. I have no way to cash checks or other money orders and I do not do paypal. Unfortunately, this isn't negotiable.

Since I have a lot of smaller items for sale and it's not economical to be running back and forth to the post office for $15 parts, I think that a $50 minimum order would be appropriate. This isn't set in stone though

All items will be shipped USPS priority mail and I can get shipping quotes on a per order basis.

Polychain GT 8mm pitch Pulley stock:

1 roughly 4 inch thick section of 63 tooth $75
3 one inch thick slices of 45 tooth - $35 per section or $100 for all 3
1 six inch section of 45 tooth - $100
1 six inch section of 38 tooth - $75
1 six inch section of 26 tooth - $85
1 six inch section of 22 tooth - $50

219 Chain, Sprockets, Sprocket Hubs

1- 65 tooth 219 sprocket, split, bolt pattern to fit Nuvinci N360 spoke flange -$20

Bike Parts, Freewheels, Sprockets, Chain, Hub, Rim Tire, Spokes, Shocks

1 -Surly Larry 3.8" wide, 120tpi tire, brand new -$60
1- set of 36 DT Swiss spokes, sized to lace Nuvinci N360 to 26" RhynoLyte $10

If someone out there is interested in a belt drive conversion and can make use of the tooth counts I have listed, it is possible that I could get the pulley blanks that I have machined into finalized designs. If this is something you want done, figure out which size pulleys you want and what offset and bolt pattern you might need and I can get you quotes for finished polychain gt 8mm pitch pulleys. The pulleys will be machined by a friend of mine so it might take a couple of days to get back to you with a quote.

Who wants belt drive?

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions! I'm happy to help. :D

I would be interested in that Indicator/Lights/Horn button setup, but I'm down in Australia...
Is there any other way I can pay you? And can you get it shipped down here?
I understand if its too hard, if so where can I buy one to get it in Aus?

Cheers, Tom.

You'd have to use western union to transfer payment. By the time you paid the transfer charges and shipping, you'd probably be spending $60 for a ten dollar part. I don't know where to get those though. I got that one from icecube57.

I just got back from the post office and I have some not so good news. International rates have gone nuts. It's going to cost $35 to ship a small package to Canada. Just an FYI.

given your last post it might cost too much but can I get a quote to Australia (adelaide) for this... ps could you look at ups shipping? they seem to be consistently better on price, for the sake of an extra week or so shipping time (I bought a ple80 a while back, the difference in shipping was over $250   ($50 vs $~320)!!!!)

and if it ain't too much trouble can you do a quote for just the 219 chain stuff listed?

I'm going to the post office in just a bit. I'll also get an online quote from UPS but every time I've checked, they've been considerably higher than the post office. If you can though, confirm which parts you want. You said "just 219 stuff" but you listed some 5mpg2 stuff and some bike chain stuff. Weight will make a huge difference in price.

If you do want the 5mpg2 sprockets, are you sure don't want the 25x800mm belt I have for them too?

Yea I was basically looking for 2 quotes, as I'm more interested in the 219 parts than the pulleys and freewheel stuff.

Now that I think about it though, dont worry about the pulleys. just a quote for the following would be fine...
And yea I realise the free-wheel stuff is different, ive got a couple of builds im working on, and the smaller free-wheel + adapter could be useful. I guess if it weighs allot /adds allot to postage then drop it too.

1 -65 tooth 219 sprocket with carrier, csk35pp one way bearing, and mount- $50
2 -26 tooth 219 sprockets -$10 each

It looks like I'd have to use a medium flat rate box. It has a 20 lb weight limit so I could fit a bunch of stuff in there without it affecting the shipping cost. The shipping would be $47.95. Don't forget about western union fees too. It might not be worth it unless you have a specific use lined up for the 65 toother on the csk carrier. That part alone would probably cost $500 if you had somebody make it for you.

yea its probably more than its worth, and the carrier I could probably fab myself (got access to my uni's workshop).

do you think the 26 and 28tooth sprockets would be cheap to send (they'd just fit in a satchel wouldn't they)? they seem pretty hard to find in that size. Do you mind if I ask where you got 'em?

I got all of my 219 sprockets from Asuza engineering. It would probably be cheaper in the long run for you to deal directly with them because they're able to take credit cards. Tony is the salesman that I worked with and he's on top of his stuff.

Hey, I did PM you about this stuff, but you were not willing to guide me with some questions on practical applications. At least point us to some build and design threads about how to do this???

I also think you need to get us some quotes about typical finished parts to use these. You're offering bulk unfinished product that 99% of ES members cannot machine shop this out. Plus, there's no practical information about typical setups to use this for. :?:

Look at recumpence's yellow trike for a reference. There are other builds out there using belts but they're pretty rare....mainly due to the lack of available pulley stock.

These belts are at the top end of development right now. While 99% of the members here may not have the capability to machine these blanks down to final form themselves, there are machine shops everywhere. The machine shops can't hob the tooth pattern though so they need an unfinished blank to start out with. These blanks are very difficult to source. You usually have to buy a full length piece of stock at a minimum and there's usually a minimum order quantity too. It took me almost six months and probably 50 emails/phone calls to get the stock that I got. It wasn't an easy process.

As far as design work goes, there are too many variables for me to be designing belt drives for people over the internet at no charge. I'm already selling the stock at a loss. In order to design a proper belt drive for someone, I'd need to know all of the details of their build and have some pretty specific measurements.....measurements that most members probably wouldn't be able to accurately make without some specific guidance. If there's someone out there that would like to do a belt drive conversion on their bike and wouldn't mind paying me for my efforts in designing and developing it, just shoot me a PM.

Applications for 8mm pitch PolyChain GT belts would include motor reduction drives for big motors like the 4 inch astro, joby, Agni, etc. Also, the belts can be used after the reduction to transmit power to the rear wheel. The possibilities are really endless and depend on the amount of either work, or money that someone's able to put into a build.

The pulley stock I have is 8mm pitch, modified curvilinear, or "Powergrip2" in Gates terminology.

Please get me a finished quote to connect a 63 or 75 tooth to a typical disc mount on left rear drive.

Please get me a finished quote to connect a 22 or 26 tooth to a geared motor's freewheel "sprocket area" connection to drive the above rear.

That's the kind of pricing information we need. ;)

It's nowhere near as simple as that.

How wide do you want the driven pulley's tooth surface to be? Typical belt widths are 25mm and 12mm. Custom split belts are available in different widths.
How thick do you want it's mounting flange to be? Would you like any lightening holes? What offset would you need between the mounting surface and the center of the pulley? Do you want areas machined for alignment flanges?

Which motor are you referring to? What type of attachment does it use, threads? What size? Thread depth? Splines? Shimano pattern? Thickness? Flanges? Offset? Lightening holes?

You'd also have to make sure that you'd have room between the stays for the the pulley mounted to the disc mount. This would determine your offset. But if you go too far in, the belt might hit the tire. You'd need to make sure that there's a belt already available in the overall length that you'll need, or that you have enough room to move things around to fit an available belt. Figure out tensioning. Make sure that you can get the belt where it needs to go. Will you have to split the frame, etc?

recumpence had similar setups made and if he could order in quantities of 10, he was able to sell them for $400 so that should give you some idea as to the costs. I'd imagine that most similar setups would cost similar money if they were done in similar quantities. On a one off deal, I'd imagine that costs could be 25% higher.

Prototype machine work isn't cheap for sure but having the pulley stock available makes it so that if someone wants something like this, they might only have to spend $200-600 instead of the $1500-2000 that it would normally take after meeting the minimum order quantities for stock. Once it's done though....no chains, no noise, no lube, no maintenance and if everything is enclosed, the drive will last as long as the bike.

I don't need this stuff. None of the prices are set in stone. If you're interested in something, make an offer!

This is terribly sad.

Any suggestions as to how I can move this stuff would really be appreciated.

i'm still interested in the 26/28t 219 sprockets, if we can find a reasonable way to avoid the $20 in WU fees... and in another months time I might be looking at some of the pollychain stuff, just too much on my plate at the moment (finals). those sprockets would fit in a normal bubble wrap type envelope so postage should be pretty cheap right?

oh, and would you sell the 35pp bearing on its own?

I think I have an extra CSK35PP. I'd like to keep the other assembly together because disassembled, it's basically worthless and it took me a week to make. The 219 sprockets might fit in an envelope but I wouldn't trust an envelope so ship sharp metal objects internationally. I don't know what the rules are for that either. If you think that you might want some other stuff in a month, just let me know what you're looking at and I can hold onto it for you. If you're getting more stuff, I can put 20 lbs of it in a flat rate box for the same shipping amount.

I don't think there's any way to get around the WU fees but if you're buying a few things, I'll discount the price enough to offset them.

I'm not ever in as much of a hurry as I feel like I am so I'll gladly put a package together for you and hold onto it until you're ready.
