Yep, we've all been there. I hooked up the motor halls to the cycle analyst connector on the controller and fried them, and replacing the halls in the mac was a good lesson, I won't do that again in a hurry and will be more careful.
Going LiPo wasn't as scary as I thought and I won't go back until something better comes along, it's all about size and weight for me. I haven't burned anything yet, got my first kff a few weeks ago, which wasn't too bad after 10 months or so.
Hopefully you will learn more before your bank account is drained!
Single or not we all need a hobby and my girlfriend doesn't care as long as bills are paid first, but obviously she doesn't know how much I really spend, we all need our secrets, some prefer to spend money on drugs and others on alcohol whatever keeps you happy in the end is what matters!
I think for me the biggest difficulty is making torque arms, and my friend made them for me, when you get to 3kw you will need something pretty tough alright, 5kw is real fun.
I think the best thing ever was going with a low power set up, 800 watts mas my first kit, I think going straight to high power is far too dangerous as you need to learn how to handle the power, and how to build the bike properly to take the power and you will always do something to break your first kit in some way and with high power setups that can be expensive if something goes wrong.
I'm pretty much done with spending money on my bike now, I have the best system for me and the next thing to spend money on will be new LiPo when the time comes but I'm hoping I can get 2 years in total out if it.
Back to pedal only power.
