..

So last thing i did before parking it for the night ( after searching the forum for info on using regen.... ) is dig up a gutted e-brake lever switch, hooked it up to the e-brake ( black / yellow ) line, only problem is that this switch is button-pushed disabled vs the other type i need.. so i had to hold it down to use throttle..

one word to describe this... " AWSOME " !!!!....

Get rolling 50+ kph, hit the switch and the trike slows down generating 10 ~ 12 amps, nice smooth, no brake pad wear but yet strong solid braking action down to 10 kph or so.. love it..

Tomorrow, pre-charge resistor, contactor, and mounting of 3 speed switch.. also swap SA ca for a DP unit..

You will love the regen braking Ypedal!

I adjusted mine to be able to brake just enough to make drifting a little bit wich is more fun for the turn!!

Once you will get the 150-200A phase current YOU WILL be amazed!!

The seat push you like a bomb splash would!!!... It's pure BRUTE force !!

I bought 5-6 rear 20" tires to burn this summer 8)

i'm glad you really appreciate your trike!!

Oh this is far from done !!

I have gotten regen braking to work, and as Doc stated, IT"S FREAKIN AWSOME !!!!

I rigged it up to a brake lever on the left side handle, as delivered by Lyen it's set just about perfect, at high speeds it will create a big enough brake effect to cause the tire to skid just a tiny bit, off-road it's a blast !!

Got the pre-charge resistor with a switch as well as a 200 amp contactor, but since i'm waiting on the 6 additional packs to arrive, the pack voltage will change so everything is jimmy rigged temp for now..

should have taken camera along last night, was out at the ball field, pea gravel trail, hilarious.. neighbor on 2 wheels could not follow me around turns without washing out..

knoxie wrote:Nice video Tommy and no problems from Y I am sure about you posting it in his thread, didnt see them on your bike but are you running any torque arms on that motor? looks like a pretty cheap bike with a steel rear swing arm but still at those powers and as you are using regen you need to make sure you have at least one on and regularly check them, regen will loosen your wheelnuts and you will be in a world of hurt if that wheel pops out. Also fit a kill switch or at least get a decent throttle as again you are running high power on a cheapo lever hall throttle, go with a Magura, oh and also watch the voltage esp as you are wearing it, 133VDC can stop your heart no problems so be careful.

Sorry to nanny you but you seem like a nice guy with a nice camera :D keep posting the videos but please take advice and stay safe.

Nice to meet you knoxie!

2 switches

1- seperate circuit, with resistor inline on + wire, flip switch.. watch voltage climb on CA ..

2- 200 amp contactor with a 24v coil running a seperate lipo pack for now, will use a DC/DC converter once i'm done building the 100v pack ( cells being cycled on bench now. )

so you flip 1, wait 3 seconds or so, flip no.2 and CLICK.. go baby go !... 8)

pictures later tonight.. and video on weekend once i get the 100v pack done.

I need to build a bunch of 3P wire harnesses, both ballance and power leads.. lots of soldering in my future..

So far I've just used Anderson's and Banana(on a hobby charger).

What is your preference? I was thinking of trying CR Bullets or Xt 60's.

it's only 10pm, and i could keep working, but the red wine is starting to kick in and i've learned the hard way to avoid mixing drinks with pack building.. so that's it for tonight ! 8)

Nice work Gaston. I built my LiPo balance harnesses in a similar way so I know it's a PITA to do.
This time I just bought them already made from EP Buddy.
http://epbuddy.com/index.php?main_page= ... ucts_id=59
You can parallel up to six 6s LiPo bricks with this harness and it only costs $6.40 USD.
The price is well worth it over the hassle of making it yourself.

I take pride and comfort knowing i did it myself, no doubt they do good work but i dont like messing around when it comes to lipo and the " if you want something done right, do it yourself " rule applies to the fullest on this build..... 8)

Working on the power side tonight.

This is a LOT of bits and pieces !!!!

2 of the 4 packs ( of 3 packs each ) will be with andersons, the other 2 i will use bullets..

12 awg from each pack into 8 awg should handle the 100 amps i plan to throw at this with ease..

sorry tommy, not the video you wanted to see.. but it's the one i made while working on the parallel harnesses ..

One iron is not enough, so i got 2 going, 1st one gets the joint hot and half soaked, the 2nd iron finishes the job...

and yes.. i know.. the copper bar and all should be wiped with solvent, but this is near impossible, getting all this into the copper ring, pinched down and then solderd.. works just fine.. i flush the joint with lots of solder that weeps out the bottom once everything is nicely coated.. i'm confident in this thing taking 100 amps without any issues.

Flux flux flux! You want to make sure the bond is good between the solder and copper.... flux flux flux is your clean clean cleaner! lol I use Liquid Rosin Flux :)

yep, BBQ is a good place to work with hot soldering irons !!.. .. you can just drop them on there without worrying.

Got more done tonight, but the mosquito's are out and they put an end to my productivity, the packs are mounted to the trike, seperated by ABS layers, and a WHOLE LOT of double sided tape... this thing is not going to fall off when i'm done with it...

Was too dark to take pictures.. will snap a few tomorrow ! and if all goes well i should be able to try my first test ride on 100v !
