SKATEBOARD video & gps 23 mph

Hi there,

I am new to this forum and I am trying to build an Eskateboard. Could you please help to find where to buy the wheel drive cod and the drive tip that goes on to the engine. What size/length should be the drive belt and how many teeth?

Thank you guys!

P.S. Would it be possible to meet in Central Park in order to see how you guys mounted the extension from the drive to the engine and where can I do it in Manhattan?

also check out beetbocks' thread, he has kits for sell,
he might sell u parts....

there's also parts from chinese eboards with belt drives...

this is a good page too,

Guys,

Here is what I ordered from Hobby king for my elongboard:
- 1 motor - Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 6364-245kv
- 2 Battery - 2x ZIPPY Flightmax 5000mAh 6S1P 45C (2 paks)
-3 HobbyKing_ECO6_50W_5A_Balancer_Charger_w_accessories
-4 Hobbyking_105W_15V_7A_Switching_DC_Power_Supply
-5 TTS-150A/14635 Turnigy TrackStar 150A 1/8th Scale Brushless Car ESC + plus cables and connectors

What are your thoughts about this set up?

One more question about the Lipo Batteries...I was checking on the FB RedRock Boardshop page and came across the safety and realized how dangerous are these batteries. I am thinking to cancel the order tomorrow morning from HobbyKing and look into RedRock Boardshop battery pack. Not sure though if offers better performance and how much $$$$ it will cost.

Anyone has been using them for a while? Are these batteries safe? I was thinking of placing them in a backpack and after I saw the videos on you tube I don't even wanna play with it!

Thanks guys.

What are the batteries on this board? Looks like an interesting configuration and may be a bit better than the big bricks I've seen on Hobby King.

sk8norcal,

Can you give us more info about these batteries. I would like to get between 12 to 15 miles range and with these batteries how many do i need and what specs?

Thank you!

sorry, i am wrong person to ask for batteries. :(
there is a lot of info on ES for headways and mileage estimate.
but a skateboard would most likely be worst than an ebike in efficiency due to the higher rolling resistance of the smaller wheel.

but if it was me, I would go for A123 from cellman,
from what i have read, they are the best safe battery...

Agree, but the A123 from cellman are so expensive. Do you know anything about this motor Tacon Big Foot 160 Brushless Out Runner Motor for Airplane (245KV) and the web Hobby parts?

Guys, how about the RedRock boardshop battery .....https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=398053820284881&set=a.297951596961771.69370.291302110960053&type=1&theater&notif_t=photo_reply

Is it better or safer than Lipo?

guys, how about Ballistic batteries? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQAhynKIXqw&list=PLA41C9C6D8AE70632 anyone used them? What would work for SK3 6364-245kw in order to get 10+ miles?

Thanks!

sorry, this' translation:

Hello, and 'a bit' of time that I follow and I'm 'trying too make a longboard electric. I have intention of buying this engine:http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...ss_Outrunner_300kv_60_Glow_DE_Warehouse_.html 'cause having a little' less watts, I believe in greater autonomy.

what do you think?
you help me find a suitable batteries and esc?

on hobbyking there 'wrote that absorbs 60A/15sec that mean?? thanks a lot I can just posterior 'pictures of my little project

Guys, I decided to order the 2 of the ZIPPY Flightmax 4200mAh 4S1P 30C LiFePo4 Pack and connect them in series. Did anyone used this pack?

I hope I can get around 6-8 miles range...

Seeing as some want to make an e-longboard and hearing Boosted Boards came out with a setup costing nearly $1200. I certainly wasn't going to pay a high price. The motor I chosen for a similar build to this is the NTM5060 with a max amperage of 90 amps. I will be using a 6S Lipo setup. The challenge is to make an electrical system for under/close to $300, beat Boosted Board's total motor power of 2000 watts, and go past 20 mph limit I see with these setups. I am seriously consider using the Turnigy TrackStar 150A 1/8th 150amp ESC from hobbyking,

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=32826

but the reviews make it seem like this product is dead in the water even before I buy. It sure is a cheap ESC with that much amps for $70. Anyone know a good ESC that isn't dead on arrival and takes 150 amps. I don't mind buying from hobbyking, but it is sad when the ESC breaks on you after a few minutes of running and trying to deal with the reps to get a replacement or refund.

Since you mentioned Boosted Boards, here's a link to someone's teardown of the components:

I saw the TED talk yesterday and it sparked an new interest in researching electric transportation and longboarding in general.
Registered here last night, and this place has been an outstanding resources of information.

OPs projects have already helped me gain more knowledge about what kind of hardware, motors and LiPO tech to look into. I am very thankful, keep the updates coming!
