What time is everyone expecting to get there ?

Planning on definate arrival at 10 am with hopeful wishful thinking of 7am... like last time :D ... 10am seems a good time for general turnup, worked well last time and gives a bit of a chance for earlier riders to run the track and talk cr@p and a race start around 11, maybe 12 to maximise time for later arrivals and gives enough daylight for easy homeward bounding in the arvo.

in a nutshell...

Aim to turn up at 10

chills n spills til 11

Aim to race by 12

Eat, socialise, visit emergency room rest of arvo.

It'll be getting close to mushroom season down that end of the world too...
It's already happening.

I am a strong possibility of a no show unfortunately.
Life and wife get in the way.

Maybe the next one can be somewhere a little closer to northern/eastern suburbs so i can make a quick getaway if needed.

Have fun.

I'll ignore juvenile comments

Anyway the date was always Sun, then t3sla decided to change it to Sat, which has better forecast. I had to change my plans to suit.
Talking to t3sla on Thu night the date was still Sat.
I'm not changing my plans again.

Have fun.

Damn I thought only I was allowed to spit the dummy here... :D

Will miss ya F-T :(

Orright, looks like I'd better volounteer for the marshaling time keeping duties... any timepieces, video cameras etcetera that can be brought to help me with this will be heavily appreciated...

The shopbike is still available for a loan if someone wants to race it...

I will be at race track come at 10 am come hell or high water.

Sunday 28th April 10:00 am Altona Goat track in Altona coastal park

Do many lycras use the app? I'll have to download it and have some fun in my home town..
Yes and its a serious business. On a few sections around Canberra I've seen the start and finish lines painted on the road. I'm surprised it's taken so seriously because without much effort you can get Strava to show anything you want. You can do interesting stuff with the data like compare pros and amateurs at the Tour Down Under https://theconversation.com/how-did-amateurs-compare-with-pros-at-the-tour-down-under-11946 . The cycling elite all know each other and if you get near the top of the list as an unknown you almost certainly were not a standard cyclist.

The Strava app is OK but it's the website that's best. If you are into sensors and numbers, IpBike on an Android handset that does ANT+ and some cadence, speed, heart rate and, if you are really wealthy, power sensors is my recommendation. Use the Strava upload function and you've got numbers presented in almost any way you can think of.

You gotta practice the art of trolling, slowly start with times that are close, then slight improvements until you are equal. Then slightly nudge past, wait for them to try and improve then bait them into a game they can't win.
Much more fun live. Sit on the wheel of a cycling hero for a while, give it your all, pass him, then see if he responds. Pass again a bit later and repeat but don't overdo the assist. If he realises he can't can't win he'll stop trying. Hills are best because you can really inflict some pain. In the true spirit of Lance I find it quite easy to believe I really beat the bastard. Using Lipo rather than EPO you can win without sacrificing a testicle.

Ha. I notice some locals have speeds of 97kph. Need to start track where cars and gsx bikes dont go.

I'm no good for tomorrow. Scored a ticket to see Tool tonight. Have fun.

Jealous

Also apologies, for the record I thought the 28th was a Saturday, so I was keyed in for the date not the day... Numbers>Words

Looks like won't be a big turnout, but we all seem to run 14s so even playing field.

Tbh I'm just happy to get out and de stress, everything else is a bonus.

Small turnout, but heaps of fun was had by all  more time spent talking than riding and we didn't formally race.

Was great begin able to swap bikes and compare rides, really shows you can make ride improvements with even the simplest of changes like lowering seat, tire pressure etc.

I'll post some pictures and video when I'm home, got one of Alan blowing his rear tire while brute zooms past on his fighter

We discussed the need to have a general group ride separate from this so we can hang with everyone again.
The course isn't exactly easy and would deter people from racing, it was sketchy on my dh bike lol

lap times? Be keen to head down for some practice laps. problem is it takes me half my pack to get there, half to get home and only get one or two powered Laps then that ends up being a 60+km ride
good to hear it went well,

Andy

Such is the role of Aussie Jester. I take it Pendragon8000 is OK ?
(ok that may have been a little too cryptic for most ?)

It sounds like this track is all good and fun but if we're going to get some serious organised ebike racing happening then a proper kart (or other) track is going to need to be sorted out.
Still looking forward to any pics/vids though!

I actually don't mind the track as it is - has good potential for emx type racing.

A flat smooth track would be cool to add another class.

Yeah interesting! And funny just a few days ago I was also thinking it would be cool to hire out the Port Melbourne indoor kart track. I have never been there but drive past it once a week. Not sure about oil on the track from the go karts though?? Bonus is all-weather so maybe good for a mid-winter so long as we can swing it. Cost might be kinda much but need to negotiate to have track exclusive for say an hour or so would be enough and then we could have a group ride down to the bay or something after for debrief/analysis.

Yeah too cryptic for me, hint please.

And not sure if it was food poisoning or more too much drinking the night before, or combination of both...

The problem was my wife's friend calls her early Sunday groaning she has food poisoning and can hardly get out of bed to go to work so can she take over her shift today last minute. So there goes my ebike Sunday, I am now in charge of staying home minding the kids, but on the plus side it was not totally unproductive, we sledgehammered away a garden wall that was previously annoyingly close to car doors.

Anyway... the part about the supposed food poisoning is suss because last night my wife checked facebook and saw the "poisonee" on a mutual friends photo stream out clubbing Saturday. But giving benefit of the doubt maybe it was a dodgy kebab at 2am on the way home... who knows.

Anyway, just another one of life's unexpected little twists. Really sorry Joe and Alan I couldn't make it. I considered driving out and bringing the kids but bike takes the whole back seat folded down, and 2 kids in front passenger seat is kinda illegal.

Anyway, if the universal gods allow it, I will be at the next FrockFest.
The ferry ride MikeBeastie and I take is quite a fun journey, about an hour each way from Southbank to Williamstown. Earliest boat is 10:30 so henceforth we are generally planning to arrive on track around 11:40.

Yeah probably too cryptic for most, just my over caffienated brain and questionable sense of humor.

In medieval times the court jester would often taste the kings food before he ate it to make sure it wasn't poisoned. Merlin was kicking about during these times and obviously linked to King Arthur (Pendragon).
When the post said "a mate of Merlin's got food poisioning" Aussie ES members Aussie Jester and Pendragon8000 came to mind in this context.
yeah, way too cryptic

Joe should have some video, (sadly, I don't think he got the one of me barrel rolling like a frock tard)

Also for anyone that rode the bike, I flipped over to 12s Nanoteh, the performance is better than 14s Zippy
Could have really done with the ability to hammer it out of the corner.

bahh Humbug

Dunno how to embed video

Used a crap convertor from camera vid to wmv so I could use Windows Movie maker

Lots of diff clips cobbled together to simulate a race between Brute and T3sla... note they magically swap bikes part way thru race...

Over it at time of posting so no sound track
