-so I can go riding with the ol' lady (share'n a scoop or two)

-because I like the scooter too -- it's little less practical, and little more fun than an ebike IMHO -- mainly because it's brushed motor, small wheels make it more maneuverable and quicker too.
(they're very different flavors of the same type food, but both chocolate and vanilla taste so good)



Right now though, both vehicles are out of commission and I'm missing my ice cream like it was meltin'!

The ebike needs a new rack (just ordered the same one again -- I though of a simple way to shore it up and my battery box was designed to bolt to that particular model)

The escoot needs new tires and tubes (will get soon).

For Valentine's Day I got my scooter some new footwear.

Changing the tubes and tires took 4 hours. The s1000's rear assembly is a PITA to remove! I like the general performance and feel of this Schwinn's direct-drive, but going chainless was supposed to be less of a hassle, not more. If I had it to over, I'd get the '06 izip 1000 or '07 stealth with the chain drive instead.

Oh, the new tires are 2.25" wide whereas the originals were 3". They fit just as good, but seem a bit more squirrelly on the road. I'm hoping they'll handle better once worn in. The tubes are 3x thickness. I also installed puncture-resistant kevlar belts between the tubes and tires.

Well, Stevil Knevil (that'd be a great if that was your real name! If not, have you thought about naming one of your kids that? )
at their present 45 psi top speed is the same. The stock tires were 3" wide, these are 2.25". At low speeds these thinner tires ride more 'tipsy'. I didn't look very hard, but I didn't see 12.5" x 3" tires at any of the normal scooter parts stores.

Love that double-tube idea. I might try that on my bike when it times for the next tire change. I'm using panaracer kevlar belts

Also a more comfortable, motorcycle-like seated position. The raised deck can be securely held between one's feet, allowing better control. In addition to the small controller, the box now fits at least five 10ah batteries, or four 12ah batteries.

What are they made of?

Same as the deck risers, I cut the footrests from 1/2" oak plywood.

Are they strong enough?

No problem supporting my 170lb weight. They're attached at the sides, and supported underneath by another wood slab.

REI has a rack that's supposed to take 40lbs. The cantilevered tube has no welds. It's is one-piece casting. The rack has saddlebag holders. I don't see it online. There's one there, but it's welded.
