These razors come stock with an on/off controller, basically just a relay and a current limiter. Also wouldnt using a golf cart controller give too much current to the motor, and possibly overheat it? Or can I modify it so it gives the proper power for a 500w motor?

I believe the three phases are only for a brushless motor, mine is brushed. Theres only a + and - for the output of the speed controller

Im not using a hub motor, im using a brushed one, and using the original speed controller the motor works just fine

Your new controller probably uses mosfets instead of a relay. Your motor might have a partial short from overheating and the insulation burning off of the coils.
