newb not so ultimate commuter build

Came back here to check out what's new, decided to give an update on this bike build. almost 3 years, probably 4 sets of tires, the thing is still going strong. I had to rebuild the front wheel since whatever crap build there was kept losing spoke tension. New set of spokes and a chubby...

    The new Qute Q100H motor

Yea looks like something's up with Hall sensors. I hooked the motor up to a known good setup and it does the same thing. Does something else with sensors disconnected completely, just doesn't wanna start but works better at high load/full throttle/low RPM condition. Will have to take it apart...

    The new Qute Q100H motor

Oh yea controller is from ebikelife, I have another one like that that has some miles on it already and it's still doing Ok. Could be a bad controller actually, I haven't tried this one with anything else. Will check, got a couple more of those laying around.

    The new Qute Q100H motor

Did some more experiments, it's "stalling out" at lower RPM on full throttle acceleration. Makes nasty high-pitch noise while at it. If I pedal-assist or ease off the throttle to go through the "danger zone" speed, it does just fine. Pretty sure it's not mechanical. I tried simulating this...

    The new Qute Q100H motor

Not to hijack the thread too much, but I finally got the bike together with the CST motor, but I'm not sure if my setup is kosher for testing. When going uphill, low speeds, full throttle, this thing would just make whining noise and not produce any forward motion. But it works just fine...

    The new Qute Q100H motor

My results are only going to be interesting relative to each other for some, will be running it off a 14S NCA pack. I'm getting 23-24mph with mild assist on a plain FWD 201 q100

    The new Qute Q100H motor

So I finally took the CST and H motors apart, yes gears look exactly the same to me. I'm very suspect of the CST motor though, the actual motor is WAY narrower than non-CST versions so I'm not going to be surprised at all if it's very weak vs. regular H motor. Hoping I'll have time to run...

    The new Qute Q100H motor

So I finally got all the pieces in my possession now but a buddy is getting married, bachelor party and then pre-party and then the ceremony... Liver will take a big hit. After that, I promise I'll test the shit out of this stuff. Even got the CST built into a wheel by a local pro. Not like...

    The new Qute Q100H motor

201CST is a rear wheel drive Q100 with Shimano 9sp cassette compatible freehub. Which means the motor body is narrower than the q100h freewheel version.

What makes good brakes? Pistons, rotor or feedback?

Those EBR brakes were Ok street setup but worthless for racing. Warped rotors, etc.

Factory changes for the Q100C .

Hell yea I be bitchin' -- wasn't looking for free shit, well enough funded as is. A month and a half later I might be within a clear shot of getting what I wanted. In other news I went off the deep end and am now in the process of acquiring pieces for a high dollar carbon frame CX based single...

Factory changes for the Q100C .

Week later my 2 correct RPM motors are on their way. Hopefully FedEx won't just sit on them for another week like last time. "If I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all" seems to be the description of the whole ordeal. But, I think BMSB is in the clear. They made a mistake...

What makes good brakes? Pistons, rotor or feedback?

Dude! This is so awesome, thanks for those pictures! I don't think it quite applies to this situation since obviously current rims aren't designed for rim brakes but nevertheless, wow!

    BMC motor version Question

You could also probably just frigging get 4 6s chargers and jam them all in every time into each 6s pack and be done with it. Might come out cheaper too, some of them 6s chargers are dirt cheap.

    BMC motor version Question

You don't have to balance-charge all the time. If you want to "get by" with the charger you got you could do this: - ditch bullet connectors for Andersons - bundle the 4 Anderson pairs from your 6s cells into a pack - make a 4 into 1 connector that makes it a 6s4p - bulk charge that via your...
