    Dual motors, different gears?

I was just reading that some Tesla's have a motor up front and one in the rear - the one in the rear is set for a lower gear ratio to help for starting up and the one up front has a higher gear ratio to be optimized for cruizing. I pretty frequently see older Subaru wagons and Samari's...

    "Almost" hub motors

I believe this picture is of an r/c vehicle or some kind of toy. Can this idea be applied to real cars - shorten the half shafts of a front wheel drive car and connect the motor to the half shaft? or, if you can find a good deal on motors, do it to each of the 4 wheels of an awd or 4x4...

    Reverse thinking...

I have read many threads here and in other forums about people trying to convert a car that originally had an ice into an electric vehicle. Has anyone tried to design a vehicle from the ground up to be an electric vehicle? I am looking for ideas and threads that can be accomplised by mortal...

    "Juice" ebike

Two years ago, my friends bought a pair of ebikes from "Juice" something or other....She parked her bike for about a year (had it not ridden it much anyway) and now the battery will not charge and will not power the bike. A company recommended by the sales shop wants $200 to ship the batter to...

    simulation for power use

Does anyone know/have of an electronic model that will simulate a car driving/consuming electricity vs. an onboard generator generating electricity? Ideally it should include a wind resistance factor, changes in weight of car, incline, as well as factors for the generator.

    Electric tractor motors

I have some property in the high plains desert. I would really benefit from having a motorized 4 wheel platform that would let me carry up to 4,000 pounds (500 gallons of water). It does not need to go more than 5 mph, and does not need to climb more than 20 degrees. Tires will be about 24"...

18650 vs prismatic - which is safer?

The battery was only 4 weeks old. My school hauled away the carcass (the only thing remaining was the steel frame) before I even had a chance to take photos, so it looks like I am going to get screwed at that end. I was charging the battery when it happened. The battery was low, down to 20% or...

18650 vs prismatic - which is safer?

Are the 18650 cell packs safer than prismatic? Last night, my scooter caught on fire while it was being charged. Fire burned...all that was left was the steel in the frame and the hubs. I had a new battery that was prismatic instead of 18650 :(

    Limit on battery size?

I think I am getting the run around with my local escooter shop. I have an electric scooter (the old fashion style that you sit on and has handlebars). It has a 48v mother with a 15a life battery. I want to put a 40a 48v battery in the scooter and change the controller as well. The guy that...

    Intricancies of 2+ motors

Thank you! Sorry for the mistake. I meant, eliminate the drive shaft. Yes, I am still looking at a differential for each pair of wheels, with one motor attached to each differential. I have read on other forums that 2 controllers in the same vehicle need some way to be managed together...

    Plans for a diy controller

I have a 48 volt, 500 w ebike. The motor is capable of handling 60v - probably more efficiently. I was thinking that if there are any diy kits - or well documented plans, I would like to try to build a controller. I have not done anything like this in 30 years. Do things still need tubes...

    Intricancies of 2+ motors

I have read a number of posts here about 2 motors on a 2 wheeled vehicle. My questions here are about a 4 wheeled vehicle. The Tesla pick-up has something like 3 motors up front and 4 in the back, give or take. I would like to convert a small 4x4 vehicle like a Suzuki Tracker. If I could...

    18" wheel on a scooter?

I am looking at a scooter with 18" wheels. Most of that kind have 16" wheels. A lot of companies make 16" wheels with the motor rigidly mounted in the center of the wheel. The selection for 18" is not nearly as big. Can an 18" wheel be made electric using spokes with the motor? I am...

A help me upgrade my scooter

Thanks. Good suggestions. Another MUST: the batteries will go. Some shops will let me order the scooter without a battery. I would not trust the motor with a controller that would throw more electricity at it.
