    Tire Concentricity

One more note on this issue. I recently figured out that yes, there is a bit of difference in bead diameter between the 14 inch bicycle wheels and the 10 inch scooter tires. While this allows the possibility of the tire seating in a non-concentric position, it seems like the tires generally want...

    Specialized Globe Haul Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I just wanted to circle back with some closure on this thread. Since I didn't have any schematics or connector pinouts, I couldn't figure out a troubleshooting plan. I checked some voltages, but did not find anything obviously wrong. So my friend took the bike in to a dealer that...

    Specialized Globe Haul Troubleshooting

Maybe no 5V you say? Interesting! Because I did verify that with the battery installed, there is 42V (battery voltage) heading up to the display. I was assuming that was only used for the charge indicator and that there should have been another 5V power line going up to drive the logic. If it's...

    Specialized Globe Haul Troubleshooting

I'll get the charger and leave it on there for a long time, thanks for the advice, that would be cool if it works. I was thinking along the lines of the BMS Having shut down due to imbalance since it's obviously off at the power terminals. But before I open the battery to check the individual...

    Specialized Globe Haul Troubleshooting

That's just like, your opinion man. Actually, I would agree, but I get that there's a much wider world of people that are non technical and just want to ride their ebikes. I think fully packaged products are made proprietary just so that amateurs can't make dangerous modifications, or at least...

    Specialized Globe Haul Troubleshooting

Crazy that Acer, like the PC company, is like supplying ebike systems, right? https://www.acermps.com/product

    Specialized Globe Haul Troubleshooting

Yeah sorry I was a little vague about the specifics, I actually started the thread like 3 times but found myself going off on tangents, so I was trying to keep it terse. Failure description: He charged it up, it sat for about a month, then he rode it in to work. On the way home the display...

    Specialized Globe Haul Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm trying to troubleshoot my friend's Specialized Globe Haul ST. It went dead while he was riding. Battery charges up, there's 42V going up to the display. I checked all the connections, doesn't have the "too much dielectric" problem that's discussed on Reddit. Does anyone have any...

    Tire Concentricity

Thanks for all the advice. I think the comments about the rim bring too narrow were correct. It's a very narrow rim compared to whatever 50cc scooter wheel the tire was intended for. And yeah, the ebike wheel doesn't even seem to have a lip, the inner walls are just straight. All that said...

    Tire Concentricity

All the cool kids are running 10 inch motorcycle tires on 14 inch ebike wheels. So I ran out and bought some Bridgestone Hoops for my scooter with 14 inch wheels. The tire size is 2.75-10. they seem to fit, the front is fine, but rear is not concentric, meaning it has a lot of up/down run-out...

    Why are loop keys female?

I finally got my bike set back up with all (ok most) of the updates I am planning. Here's how the loop key looks installed (still working cleanup to do please don't judge lol). I'm using it for an on/off switch. Only running 48V so no expected issues with the precharge resistor life.

    Why are loop keys female?

Here's what I'm going with. XT90 male bulkhead and female w/precharge resistor. I think it's rad.

    Why are loop keys female?

Thanks for all the advice. I should have mentioned I was planning to use an XT90 with the anti spark resistor and the application is an on-off key. I'm only running 13S so less likely to blow up the precharge resistor. I had not heard that they die quick at higher voltage but it makes sense now...

    Why are loop keys female?

I'm about to add a loop key and I thought I would make the removable key male and the part attached to the bike female. This way the side with power all the time is female and thus more protected from shorting. This makes sense to me but I just noticed that every loop key on the internet seems...

    Xiaoxiang BMS Charge Balance

Thanks so much for the detailed response! I think the biggest difference in pack voltages when I connected the BMS was about 0.4V (4.1-3.7), and my pack capacity is about 24Ah. Assuming those Ah work linearly across a 1V span (like 4.2 to 3.2), I think that it means it was imbalanced by 40% of...
