    Hailong battery mounting

I mounted mine to an old dishwasher rail and added some hot glue and some extra bolts to stabilize. The rail is then anchored to one water bottle frame bolt and also uses hose clamps on either end. This allows me to adjust the position and is very secure.

Lightning Rods Kit - chain rubbing on adjuster bolt

Looks like we are talking about the same thing. My BB wasn't loose to the point of being obvious. It is a very tight friction fit. But with a sharp smack with a hammer (or an unintended bail which is pretty common for me), it did move. I have a 68 mm BB too but with the sheets, you add a few...

Lightning Rods Kit - chain rubbing on adjuster bolt

Not sure if this is the same issue as I can't quite follow which bolt you are referring to (in the smaller sprocket, the bike chain is not near the 219 chain). Anyway, initially, I had clearance issues with the kit bolts hitting the chain in the smaller sprockets. I added two spacers to make...

    LightningRods mid drive kit

My bet it is quite common to have some level of imperfection in the system such that the chain length changes with the rotation. I also have tight spots if I over tighten the chain - not sure if it is bent shafts, imperfect sprockets or alignment issues. Probably a combo of all of these...

    LightningRods mid drive, givitago's build

The cable helped, but it still stretched some. I have left it on, but also added an adjustable brace made out of a U bolt, a bit of angle iron, an M10 bolt with a nylon nut and a bit of steel pipe. I like it adjustable because I want to be able to tighten the chain without messing with all the...

Lightning Rods 2 Chain ring Mod

I have a 2001 stab and it I think it is basically the same frame. It's very tight but it fits. I would suggest carrying an extra chain if you don't want to push home as snapping chains seems to be my biggest issue. The chainline is not great. Make sure your derailleur is well adjusted as the...

    LightningRods mid drive kit

I use the current throttle for some pretty technical riding and I have to confess, it isn't ideal. What is really lacking is the slow speed/startup response, in particular, when you are climbing and have come to a near stop for a tight switchback, the delay is enough for you to loose all your...

I hurt myself ebiking today (fixed problem with a CA hack)

Thanks for posting this jdevo. I too have the ramp rate set very fast so I can get more immediate response, but much prefer the current based throttle and have been using the gain setting to modulate the jerkiness/oscillations. I paid a bit more attention to it and I definitely get a much...

I hurt myself ebiking today (fixed problem with a CA hack)

I get a jolt when I release the throttle and do have the e-brake going through the CA and have been nearly bucked off the bike a number of times. I've tried to make more deadband in the throttle to to compensate. I have prelim 8 and the brake going to the CA and not directly to the controller...

I hurt myself ebiking today (fixed problem with a CA hack)

Sorry to hear you got hurt. In current throttle mode, the CA ups the throttle when it doesn't see any response due to the ebrake. Letting off the brake gives you a jolt, even when the throttle was slightly open. Justin may have fixed this in the current version of the firmware but I haven't had...

    LightningRods mid drive, givitago's build

Glad to hear that this thread is useful. The Mac is a great little motor and had lots of get-up and go, particularly in the 20km + speed range. Quite quiet (I had an older one where the inner magnet bowl was solid). It sustained climbs but I feel like it got less torquey as time passed...

    LightningRods mid drive, givitago's build

A little update on the build: Fixed the speedometer issue. I swapped out the controller and it didn't help. In the process of testing the reed switch completely failed so I replaced it (and upped it to two magnets as I thought that might help any reed switch bouncing issues). That was the...

    LightningRods mid drive kit

I like the idea of a clamshell design for the upper sheets. Having a solid piece would in effect give you a triangle for bracing. Sort of like jdevo's cover but inverted such that the top runs along the downtube. Perhaps it could cover several parts in one: 1) Upper sheets 2) Downtube bracket...

10T with a 9Fet 3077 controller. It is a great motor or at least was. I think I may have cooked it a bit  Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a try if my turnbuckle solution doesn't work. I stick all the wiring through that bracket and it is pretty tight already so I'd prefer to keep...

    LightningRods mid drive, givitago's build

So I tried upping the phase amps on my controller. It did increase acceleration slightly but still did not rival the Mac. I think I can accept that this kit seems more like a tractor than a dragster. The downside was a large decrease in range so I put it back to around 30/75 amps...
