Yes, the Bafang front BPM motors that I've come across have all had shorter than standard tapped threads for the disc rotor mounts.

Some front Bafang BPM motors had the ring rear press fit into the hub case and others had it notched. This might be the case for the rear motors also. If your ring gear is press fit then it could be slipping.
