    Chinese Solar Panels and Customs

Greetings, I just learned a valuable lesson on trade as it relates to Chinese solar panels and importing to the US. In short, this isn't allowed. I purchased some thin film mono panels from Aliexpress which were shipped via DHL. The panels got hung up at customs and I managed to contact them...

Initial high amp draws - Solar Charge controllers

yes i am thinking it is a bit more efficient but I never did take any measurements before the conversion.

Initial high amp draws - Solar Charge controllers

yes... I basically unbolted the mount that holds the compressor and twisted it so that it remained upright. Then I built a base so that the radiator on the back was off the ground. heres a vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYeVxlJ0qnM

Initial high amp draws - Solar Charge controllers

Its an AC motor. I found that the DC motors are very expensive and hard to find. So i'm using an inverter. Thanks for the tip on the PWM timer ramp, i'll look into those.

Initial high amp draws - Solar Charge controllers

I am finding that most solar charge controllers have low Amp ratings(10-30A). I recently converted a mini-fridge into a chest mini-fridge and am running it off my lead acid battery connected to the charge controller rated for 20A. When the fridge initially kicks on, it pulls nearly 40A and the...

    Lithium charge controllers

thanks guys for echoing my sentiments. I just wanted verify because I heard a guy saying not to use a particular controller with lithium, but if you know, and can set (program), the high voltage point for your batteries then you're good.

    Lithium charge controllers

I have one of those cheapo solar charge controllers for my solar setup. I am looking to go lithium/lifepo4 for batteries soon and im wondering what is the fundamental difference between the charge controllers. If you have the ability to set the controller to a particular voltage, what is it...

Which is the most efficient and cheapest battery available?

Lets say you were going with the 48V motor... using Power=Volts*Amps 2500 W = 48V * I at this this rating you'll be pulling 52 amps continuous When you add those 12V 100AH batteries in series, you cant have your cake and eat it too :D. In other words, The AH ratings remain at 100AH per...

*Dusting off the 1000lb of laptop batteries

What this guy means is that laptop batteries aren't designed for high C rate. But of course you already knew that, that's why you got a Pallet! If you look at a discharge curve courtesy of this guy who tests most batteries for fun This is an example, some UR18650ZT I got from...

    Homemade Battery Packs

1000 lbs? That's a boat-load. I might be interested in some of those depending on the price and types of packs there. Do you have any idea what you'll be getting?

    This 13S BMS

Yes I have read his posts. many thanks goes to Drkangel! For my cells, I'm going to buy a factory new version as a benchmark. You have some good questions there about which cell dies out in the original packs. I might be able to get some information there in the long run, since I've numbered...

    Balance wiring harness

actually, i just didn't understand the schematic drawing. I see now that the angled lines are not connected at the batteries. I do see that you have two wires coming out of the middle nodes which seems redundant. But i suppose that's ok if you're required to do that because of the plugs...
