Does mid-drive really need a freewheel?

Thats with a cadence sensor I presume? Would it work with a torque sensor do you think?

    Q128H Light & Torquey 800W Hub Motor

The new motor that should be mentioned in this conversation is the Shengyi SX. It looks like it is similar to the Q128 but with higher efficiency. Anyone have any further data to compare?

That's what I mean when I say convert to regen. Weld the clutch.

Combined Regenerative Hub and Drum Brake

I have been wondering whether it could be possible to convert the Bafang FM G020.350.DM https://bafang-e.com/en/oem-area/components/component/motor/fm-g020350dm/ to regen, and then add a throttle type sensor to the drum brake that measures lever displacement, which can be set up so the first...

    PAS voltages

Answer: Sensor was too far from magnet. Despite having about 4mm clearance it did not work until I bent the sensor ring until it was virtually touching, and even then it was a bit off-and-on. I will have to do some more intricate vise and plier forming until it works properly.

    PAS voltages

Hi, I am having a very similar problem. The stock PAS works, but only takes square taper spindles. It has a 3 pin Higo/Julet connector. I bought a larger PAS that takes my 22mm spindle but it doesn't work. Multimeter showed me that it is wired differently, so I resoldered it so the LED comes on...

    tsdz2 torque sensor broken

Mine has also stopped detecting torque following a rebuild (it was making a grinding noise as if sand had got in it). During the disassembly I broke one of the wires going to the spring ring but I managed to resolder it successfully - I checked there was resistance between the two contacts...

    Mid-drive PAS tandem MTB mod

The thing about a BBSHD is it would have to go on the front BB, theres just too much going on at the rear for it to fit. This would mean the front BB cannot have a torque sensor (unless I got one that measured chain tension). This is the reason, along with value, I was leaning towards cyclone...

    Mid-drive PAS tandem MTB mod

I'd like to add a motor to my tandem. At present I only want pedal assist, ideally this would be controlled by a torque sensor. We still want to ride with other non e-tandems sometimes, so it can't be too noisy. It would be nice if it looked stealthy too, but that's not so important. My...

Ibis Mojo HD and Bafang BBS02 marriage

The photos of this build have disappeared. If you could reupload them that would be great. Let us know if you've made any further mods over the last couple of years too, as I'm about to modify a Mojo HD in the same way.

Best geared hub motor for slow climbing

Thanks for the rim advice. I decided against a mid motor because being a tandem there is already double the power going through the drivetrain and I didn't want to overload it. Also, I wanted the conversion to non-powered to be quick & easy. There are performance benefits of being all-wheel...

Best geared hub motor for slow climbing

Its still a sport bike, both riders would be pedaling hard in a position optimized for generating power. I just want it to be roughly equivalent to a third person pedaling so they wouldn't have get off and push. I think I've decided to go for the 2-speed motor controlled by a torque sensing...

Best geared hub motor for slow climbing

Further research suggests the Xiongda 2-speed motor is the more suitable of these two. But how does it compare at low speed to the Bafang RM G060.350.DC? Bafang more torque over 10mph but less below?
