chain broke on brand new Shimano middrive...

chainline looks spot on. I did have some delayed shifts, like if I double-shifted to a lower gear it would only shift one, then later clunk into the second. when I noticed this, I stopped and tweaked the derailleur cable adjustment to better center the gears. here's the chain (the sand got...

chain broke on brand new Shimano middrive...

Something I don't think I've ever experienced before in 40 years of riding bikes... brand new Motobecane Adventure hybrid with Shimano esteps mid drive and 9 speed Shimano derailleur. I'm cruising easy in 5th gear or so on a level bike path, and suddenly the chain broke and deposited itself...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

when dealing with an inductive circuit (eg, the motor coils), you really need some margins between peak rated voltage and operating voltage, something like 25% at a bare minimum

    Rebuilding a lion pack.,

mine are intermediate, but as I said, I'm 500 miles from this bike, it belongs to my wife's niece in San Diego/Coronado. I also have zero experience with spotwelding battery cells. In fact, last spot welding I did was tin plate back in HS shop class, circa 1970.

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

its a shame this project has become so fragmented. i've got a TSDZ2 w/a 860C, and am running 1.1.0, but when I poke around the various githubs now, i'm seeing like 0.56 and stuff? are those older or newer ?

    Rebuilding a lion pack.,

PS, I live 500 miles north (Santa Cruz), so I'm not going to be able to do more than advise her.... We were visiting earlier this week, first time I've been in Sandy Eggo in 20 years...

    Rebuilding a lion pack.,

My wife's niece has a cargo ebike she loves, and rides daily, taking her kids to preschool and running errands around Coronado, but the battery is not holding a charge very long any more. It is a 36v 9ah pack that slides into the motor control module, all integrated into the rack. Googling...

    little person bike...

while she long ago 'lost' the bike I'd put together for her, she has a bike my wife bought for her when she was in massachussets, and A-M used to ride it. she hadn't ridden it in about 10 years due to gaining too much weight, but she's lost all that. obviously she can't ride now... the...

    little person bike...

re: Q factor she has nearly an adult size torso, including pelvis. its her UPPER leg bones (thigh) that are extremely short. So, width isn't a problem, its leg stroke. I suspect even 140mm cranks are way too long, thats an 11" diameter circle. re riding after hip surgery, I figure at...

    little person bike...

it was like 25 years ago, but I think the bike I built her was based on a kid sized BMX, that I retrofitted a classic 'banana' seat on and some really small cranks, which IIRC were ashtabula since the bmx frame was built for those. I think it might even have been a 16" wheel bike, or maybe I...

    little person bike...

oh, the point of this post. has anyone done ebike adaptations for Little People ?

    little person bike...

My wife's sister is a 'little person', aka a dwarf. she has extremely short upper legs and arms, she's not quite 48" (122 cm) tall overall. When she was in her 20s, I found a kid's bike, and fixed it up for her, put better wheels on the frame, put a bigger chainring on the small kid cranks...

    Tsdz2 going away?

supposedly there's a v2 circuit board which uses much better power management with a much faster CPU chip, so I suspect its more a case of supply chain woes than anything.
