Just wanted to share my experience and ask some repair questions.
I have a 750 watt BBS02 built in October 2014. I've run it for over 2600 miles (over 4000 km) and it's been trouble free. I did make a programming cable for it and set the max current to 18 amps and I only use it with pedal...
I see where you are coming from and that's an excellent point.
I have a BBS02 crank drive on a hybrid and one thing that I don't like is that I can't turn the wattage down below 200 watts so if I'm riding with someone that is slow, I either have to turn it off and pedal pretty hard or pedal...
I think I'm going to use 2 18v Ryobi batteries together to get the 36V as in this thread. I already have the batteries and charger, so it will be a cheap experiment. If I like it, I can get 2 new batteries for $100 total.

If I used 2 of the 4Ah batteries with a controller that has a LVC, I'm thinking it would just shut off if one of the batteries disconnected. Wouldn't make my wife happy, but would save the battery. :D
I also found a Bosch tool battery that is 36V in a single battery, but its $200 and I'd have...
I have 1200 miles on mine so far with no issues. I think Kepler has over 5000 on his. I would expect to replace the plastic gears at some point, but probably not before 5000 miles.
I am preparing to order a Q100H from BMSBattery and would like some advice.
I'll be powering it with a 36v battery.
It will be used on a cruiser bike mostly for assist up hills of 2% to 10% with the longest hill being about a quarter mile 5%.
I'm ordering the 201 winding. Won't be going fast...
Love this idea and your implementation. I was looking for a way to get a pretty light low ah 36volt battery, something like 3 - 4 ah.
I've got a couple of the Ryobi batteries already and will give this a try and post my pics.
I'm looking for a small 36 volt battery for a bike where I need very little range. Something like a 3 - 5 ah. Haven't found anything from the sources I usually use for longer range batteries.
Thoughts?
The great thing about the 250 watt version of the Bafang mid-drive is that it is stamped 250 watts which will meet your laws, but it actually puts out 540 watts - 36volts X 15 amps.
I have a BBS02 and use it regularly set between 400 watts and 500 watts and it provides enough power for my...
