Gustavo chainring for Bafang mid drives

I've got a few hundred miles on the chainring now, and am still quite happy with it. It is just starting to show a tiny bit of wear on the outer face of the thick teeth due to my less than perfect chainline, chain retention is good as well. Over all, it is rapidly turning into an invisible part...

Gustavo chainring for Bafang mid drives

I have a few rides on it now, and am still very happy with its performance. Top speed is still about the same at 32 ish mph, the limit seems to be aerodynamic rather than running out of gear. I am running a 11-42 cassette on knobby 26" tires, and am rather fat, so I present a broad obstruction...

Gustavo chainring for Bafang mid drives

After three weeks of waiting (Guam...), I have the chainring in hand. My first impression is quite positive, the machine work is crisp and well finished. It is either lightly shot peened or media blasted and the anodizing is even with well saturated color, and the lettering is nicely laser...

Gustavo chainring for Bafang mid drives

I did a bit more hunting around online, and I found a picture of the clearance between the chainring and controller case. It shows 9mm for the BBSHD. I measured the clearance on my stock 46 tooth, and it was a bit over 14mm, so the 24.5mm might be accurate. I will pull a measurement once the...

Resetting primary odometer on a DPC-18

Thanks for the information, but after watching a few of those videos, it seems like way more effort than I am willing to commit to having numbers that really don't matter be correct. I'll just live with it for now.

Resetting primary odometer on a DPC-18

Hello again. It seems that I might have picked up a little bit of last week's solar storm. I noticed that the odometer and max speed were reading some absurd values a couple days ago, on the order of 4,285,000 miles traveled and 4,000 MPH max. While I'd love to say that either of those...

Gustavo chainring for Bafang mid drives

Still waiting for arrival. Due to some great shipping laws, if I order anything from outside of the US, it need to pass through a mainland port prior to shipping here. So this package will have traveled about 18000 miles before it arrives here on Guam, rather than the 2500 if it were direct.

Gustavo chainring for Bafang mid drives

If the marketing is to be believed, the stock chainring has 19mm of offset, and considering that I needed about 5mm of spacers on the right hand side of the bottom bracket in order for the gear case to clear the chainstay, it should be about right.

Gustavo chainring for Bafang mid drives

In the description, it lists the BBSxx as 14mm and the BBSHD at 24.5mm

Gustavo chainring for Bafang mid drives

Has anyone used one of the Gustavo chainrings that can be found on ebay or alliexpress? Forum search results came up empty. They look to be a lower cost and higher offset option to the Lekkie, and an available alternative to the Luna eclipse. Offset for the BBSHD version is advertised at 24.5mm...

Hello, and converting an old Moots to BBSHD

IMG20220419183007 by nik1924, on Flickr Pretty much finished aside from cleaning up the wiring a bit and waiting for the bleed kit to arrive so I can shorten the brake hoses to get rid of that ridiculous loop out front. Top speed seems to be somewhere around 30 mph on level ground, and I...

Hello, and converting an old Moots to BBSHD

Moving right along. The wheels are trued and tensioned, with some fresh tires. There is not much extra space in the frame for a fatter tire, 2.25" seems to be about the practical limit. The only surprise so far is that the output drive gearcase was hitting the chainstay and needed a little over...

Hello, and converting an old Moots to BBSHD

Parts are finally starting to trickle in, hubs, spokes, and rims arrived yesterday, and the motor kit has landed on island. I'm just waiting on customs clearance to make the pick up. It has been a while since I have laced up a wheel, now I just need to dig out the truing stand to get them trued...
