MAC not running right. Is it Controller Compatibility?

Thanks Dogman. That's the general consensus. I'll start there. Appreciated. M

MAC not running right. Is it Controller Compatibility?

Thanks to both of you for your replies. Hall/phase combo is a possibility. I wonder though would the motor be running smoothly at lower speeds if hall/phase combo was incorrect? Mike

MAC not running right. Is it Controller Compatibility?

Hi guys, Our bike build is going well but we're having issues getting the MAC running right. The throttle runs through a CA and settings appear to be fine. When throttle is pressed up to about half way the motor runs smoothly and the current draw is low as you would expect (80-200W). Then as...

    10k thermistor how to?

Hey SPinning MAgnets, I was searching for info on how to connect the Themistor from a MAC to a V3 CA and came across this comment of yours: The most useful feature (IMHO) is the CA's ability to "roll back" the amp cap temporarily when the motor is starting to get hot...so you can pay...

Motocross e-bike - now on Lipos!!

How did the Delta/Wye switching go? Do you need to modify the controller in some way also?

Front Direct Drive Hub Motor Recommendations for 2WD build

Thanks Bowl of Salad, Good reading. Modifying a geared hub looks like a pain in the neck. A direct drive VS or a geared hub (and turning the handle bars around for reverse) looks to the best way to go at this point. Thanks again for your thoughts. Are the MAC geared hubs the go to geared...

Front Direct Drive Hub Motor Recommendations for 2WD build

Thanks Spinning Magnets. I had enquired about the G series direct with Crystalyte and they only supply this to their EU distributor. This makes it cost prohibitive, paying twice for shipping plus retail margin. Good to know about those other sites. Cheers.

Front Direct Drive Hub Motor Recommendations for 2WD build

My best bet so far is the Crystalyte SAW408 weighing in at 5.4kg

Front Direct Drive Hub Motor Recommendations for 2WD build

Sorry John, but that makes no sense to me. Can you clarify? I'm running a mid-drive which will not provide the reverse. I'm looking for a front hub motor to do the reversing.

Front Direct Drive Hub Motor Recommendations for 2WD build

Thanks Bowlofsalad, One has to start with the ideal first I guess. Interested to learn more about "Geared hub motors can be ran in reverse and use regenerative braking, contrary to popular opinion. All you need to do is lock the clutch." Can you elaborate or is there a thread on how this can...

Front Direct Drive Hub Motor Recommendations for 2WD build

Hi all, I'm building a 2WD bike with a mid drive rear and direct drive front combo. Not interested in geared hub motor as I need reverse capability and regen breaking. I'm looking for recommendations for a direct drive hub motor with these characteristics: -48V -500W approx. -Disk brake...

Help wanted- Paraplegic with a need for more torque.

I've attached pics from the Cyclone website that shows their mid drive attached to the tube of a recumbent. I think this could work reasonably well for me. If you see the nuke pic I'm thinking I would have to remove the BB and install the motor in a similar way to the Cyclone pic (perhaps...

Help wanted- Paraplegic with a need for more torque.

That's crazy talk! :D Not keen on dual front motors, I am trying long term to build a recumbant bike with only one front wheel. How does one calculate the size of gearing needed to get a certain speed? Now I'm opening a can of worms! I need to go back to university to study engineering...and...

Hey m4s, have you checked out AFT mid drives? http://www.af-tech.com.au/Products_Ebikes.html http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=48110 Sounds pretty good, if not a little spendy
