Magic Pie Won't Run Unless I Cycle The Brake Lever

About 6 years ago, I installed a kit from EM3ev on my TerraTrike Cruiser: 52V battery, Mac 8T in 20" wheel, 40A Controller, Cycle Analyst V3.0, and Magnetic Brake Cutoffs on both levers. All handlebar inputs were wired directly to the Cycle Analyst. Everything has been working fine, but I...

inner rim width of 20" Magic Pie cast wheel

I have a brand new MP4, but I'd think the 20" cast wheel is the same size as your MP3. I'm measuring 30mm on the inside, and 40mm on the outside dimension. I also have a MP2 with a Maxxis Hookworm 20X1.95 and the widest part of the tire is right at 50mm inflated on the wheel. Hope this helps.

Triangle Battery Pack - NCM Subs for A123?

I nearly bought Cellman's A123 triangle pack almost a year ago. Couldn't make myself believe that I should spend that much ($600 at the time) for my first battery. It would be an easy decision today.

Triangle Battery Pack - NCM Subs for A123?

Been a member for a little under 2 years, but have not posted in a very long time. Thought I had it "all figured out", then finally found the bike I wanted. But now, Cellman no longer has the triangle packs, and may not for awhile longer. My question is: What battery could I carry in a soft...

    Desulfication of lead acid ?

I had the Vector version of that same Black & Decker charger. The desulph cycle is timed for 24 hours and then shuts off. Worthless! Not a very good charger, either. I had two and they both failed after a year or so. Don't think they are designed for daily use. I have been using a...

    intermittently cutting out

My first thought, from a similar experience, is that you have a weak battery. Could you temporarily connect your DMM to pick-up battery voltage, and tape the display where you can see it easily? I think it would be a lot more telling if you knew the voltage at the moment it cut-out, not...

Which Rim/Tire Combo for Urban Riding?

Yeah, the hookworms seem pretty popular and get good reviews. They are on my shortlist, too. While we are on the subject of tires, I've noticed steel-bead and foldable. Aside from the obvious extra weight of the steel and it's impact on acceleration and braking, are there any other factors...

problem with anderson connectors? can't get them to click!

I've used the WMR crimper for over 100 crimps. Sometimes I squeeze past the click. No problems with the crimper itself. I have, however, had trouble with the dies releasing. Keeping them clean is the answer. I've rubbed them with a #2 pencil after I had them clean. I have no evidence that...

Which Rim/Tire Combo for Urban Riding?

That's a great site, too. Thanks. It further confirmed my belief that I should buy wider rims. I'm hoping to fit something between 50 and 57, and according to the chart, I should look for a rim with an interior width of 25. Any suggestions as to a brand or source?

Which Rim/Tire Combo for Urban Riding?

Thanks FMB42. That is a great site about tires and tubes. Thanks to icecube57 for posting it. The Dobie is Chloe. Pretty intense. She's not mine, but she lived with me while I trained her. She lives in Wyoming, I'm near Denver. But she gives good mug shots... Now, I just need to find...

Which Rim/Tire Combo for Urban Riding?

I'm building my first e-bike on a 90's-era steel Trek mtb. I'll be putting a geared hub in the rear, so I'll need a new rim anyway. I really want a fatter tire that is more suited to dry, smooth pavement. Something like Hookworms, Cyclops, Hank, Big Apple, Fat Frank, etc. Is the stated mfg...

What Brand of Motors are They Selling?

Thanks. Looks like I need to do some more research on geared motors. Never heard of mxus before. Seems like if I really want fat tires, I should buy just a motor/controller combo, and get two wheels built (front and rear) to properly run the bigger tires?

What Brand of Motors are They Selling?

Ampedbikes and e-bikekit both offer geared hub motors, but, neither specifiy the brand name. Does anyone know what they are really selling? Also, neither vendor gives any width or other details about the rims that are included in the wheel kits. Will I be able to add balloon tires to the rims...

Schwinn Willy 7 - good conversion candidate?

I'm certain that my future upgrades will include non-lead batteries. One of cell_man's 500W rear geared motors is at the top of my first conversion list, though. This bike is available on CL for about $50. All CrMly frame and forks. 21" frame with a spaceous triangle. So-so components...
