Source for old green PSI Lifebatt LIFEPO4 batteries?

Since I retired a few months ago in June, having more time to pursue riding my ebike. I had a set of 2 X 12 40138 green Lifebatts that were stored charged for 6 years. 5 batteries went bad. About 3 leaked, all 5 went low or zero volts. Looking for a source of the old green 40138 10 ah...

Storage - Lithium Green cells from AndyH

Finally got my bike back on the road after being 6 month in Israel. I started to assemble the green (I think PSI cells) I bought from AndyH before at least June 2009. They have been stored in God knows what heat from S Korea to Israel during the shipment in the summer. From about early Oct til...

    6 awg wiring & 75 Amp connectors

Now these connectors and wiring are made for amperage. Cable from www.cablecotech.com -very flexible. Housing s and connectors from Mouser. These wont separate like the 30A ones. Contacts are about 1/8 inch thick at ends. Now if I could find a fuse with 6 awg cable and a shunt for the Cycle...

    Bike recommendations? Alu vs Steel

I'm thinking about buying a new bike. Getting too fast for standard brakes so I thought I would get a front disc brake model. I had bent my stays slightly during motor installation (wheel tilts about 1/4 "), so I did not just want to replace the forks. I also wanted suspension front and rear...

    Controller Cooling

Have seen various mentions of cooling off high powered mosfets, but nobody ever suggested how. If you have the controller mounted on the bike frame (not in a box), why not perforate both end plates with small vent holes? You use gasketed cover plates attached by 2 small screws for rainy days...

Series vs Parallel & Other questions

Besides having to disconnect for charging, does anyone know the advantages or disadvantages of series vs parallel battery pack connections? What would be the range differences between 36V 20 ah or 72V 10 ah (assuming you could keep a heavy hand off the throttle at 72V) ? An open circuit in one...

    Wald 520 rear mount baskets

I bought the WALD 520 rear mount baskets thru Amazon.com. Glad I overestimated for the size. The dimensions they give are not for the bottom of the baskets. It works, see pictures for the fit. Going to fly out to the States, will be down shortly.

Loose terminal - battery cell heating up

Just came back from a long ride, besides my motor being hot (but not burning my hand), I noticed the battery box was warm. My controller is limiting current to 42A, acc to my CA. I'm running 2 packs in series, total 83V. Started checking around, one cell on my old pack was a lot hotter than the...

    Check your nut tightness

Make sure y'all are doing regular checking of axle, rack etc bolts. Did mine and found the rear rack (supporting my 25 lbs of 80V) was pretty loose. Rear and front axles okay. Also tried to add a cutoff switch but started having problems with connectors (and one battery terminal was loose - the...

Has anybody ran 120V yet on 5304 series?

I did a search on 120V and got only 2 unrelated threads. Has anybody ran 120V on a 5304 motor? If so, for what length of time, and what affects did it have? What are the limiting factors? I know the standard controller mods, but other stuff like wiring size to battery, phase wires to motor...

    Smoked Soneil Charger repairs

I managed to smoke Gary's Soneil 36V charger (3610) with the crazy Korean 110V house wiring (110 between phases, 230 to ground) - totally my fault. Anyway, now I'm attempting repairs... so if you ever smoke one, it seems the popped components are the large pink 0.5 ohm resistors, and the...

    Special Resistor identification -help

Repairing my soneil charger that I smoked with this idiotic 110V Korean house wiring (110V between phases, but 230 to ground) - forgot to clip the ground tab off. Anyway - got a resistor that I can't identify the value - I know the color codes, has green, black, but it has silver on the 3rd bar...

    80V battery mount on rack

Bought my case yesterday at the local Korean market. Mounted my famous bolts on the bottom (with heat shrink covers) to keep it from slipping on the rack. Soldering iron works great at punching holes thru plastic, no slips, no cracks. Now I look like the average Korean..

Symptoms of a loose ground (black cable) to battery

Well, riding to the A base today I got thru the gate, then about a 1/4 mile and hit some bumpy road. Poof, power gone. Started checking the connections out, especially the battery negative cable (black). Could not get it fixed. Symptoms - with the controller off, the Cycleanalyst would come...

    LiFEPo4 pack - one cell different - high & low - help?

Got something strange with my 36V pack. One cell gets lower than the rest when I get to cutoff level - all were at 2.9V except one, which is at 2.75V When i've been charging for a while (but not finished), all are at 3.37V except the same one, which is at 3.6V. The one that discharges the...

Brushless DC & AC Induction motors > 15 HP

I keep toying with the idea of converting a car to electric, but cannot find sources for larger brushless DC motors or AC induction motors. From different sites I'm finding to get a 4 seater car cruising at 60 mph you need continuous 15-25 HP, depending on drag coefficient of the car. Most...

Flintstone LiFePo4 Charger Repaired & Alive

Arrrrrrgg It's Alive !!!!! Finally got the Flinstone charger repaired. Wasn't the cracked black box - was a shorted FET and another open (broke leg) FET. I replaced the NEC 2139, plugged it in and the thing started smoking. Immediately unplugged it. Got to checking and decided to pull the...

    FalconEV 36V 12ah LiFePo4 battery Test

So I took time for a test ride in my long johns (with jeans on top of course). Ambient about 32F/0C. Got past the Base guards with no questions or strange looks, made sure to pedal. On the flat it does about 33-35 kph no pedalling. Optimal speed is 20 kph with fake pedalling, anything faster...

Got it Running!! Cursed Anderson connectors..

Finally. Went for a short test ride right before dark here. Everything works except had to pedal back because of those flippin Anderson connectors. I never had so much crap trying to crimp the connectors. You can get the wire secure, but then the crimped area has to be square & even for the...
