    EBIKE BATTERY HELP

That looks like four Lead Acid batteries in series, so 48v ? Cant quite see where the wires are loose ? It doesn't help that they seem to have used same coloured wire on some of the batteries for positive and negative connections. Certainly looks like it could do with a little tidying up...

Konion 5s4p pack two in series 37V, 6Ah

Thanks for the kind offer cwah. Will see once I decide which cells I am going to use. My batteries are all running fine at the moment but I am hoping to get early retirement soon so will have more time on my hands to "play" in the workshop :) Jerry

Konion 5s4p pack two in series 37V, 6Ah

Thanks cwah and 999zip999. Not in a hurry to get them yet so will have a think about it. As you say for the same 4p pack I can effectively double the capacity of my existing lightweight packs :) I doubt I draw more than 6-8Ah max mostly its around 3Ah so could probably get away with cheaper low...

    Which Variable Power Supply

Lightweight Tonxgin motor that rarely draws more than 5-8A max. All my conversions are for lightweight, light assist bikes :) I doubt I will ever use more than 42v, 10s given I am not intersted in assistaing more than 15mph. Jerry

Konion 5s4p pack two in series 37V, 6Ah

Just seen this thread again. I am over three years on these commuting on my Brompton 10 miles round trip to work. Its pretty flat no hills and driving a low power Tongxin motor. They are still running and balanced perfectly. I dont think I have even balanced these since I first built the 2p and...

    Which Variable Power Supply

Pimarily I use Li-ion. I have some old A123 Life cells which I started with but moved to my current packs which are Konion 1.6A. Been running faultless for well for over 3 years. I make and use a small pack either 5s2p or 5s4p which I then put into series for 3 or 6ah 36v packs. All my setups...

    Which Variable Power Supply

Thanks for the recommendation, looks very good. Problem is I would have to get it shipped from HK, so import duty and stuffed if its faulty or fails later :( P.S. Hey cwah didn't recognise it was you 8) Jerry

    Which Variable Power Supply

Hi all, Really not sure if this is the right area to post this, please move if I got it wrong  Anyway seems I have got by without one of these for years using ex converted PC power supplies and my trusty Turnigy Accucell but these things seem cheap. As well as general use and to power...

Where to put the battery for electric bike

On my small wheeled bikes I like mine on the front via a frame mounted luggage block i.e. no load/effect on the steering. Jerry

    Lightweight folder - build thread

14kg is the carry weight (incl motor and controller fitted) of the bike which incl guards, big apple tyres fittings etc. The battery is in the rucksack which clips on the Klickfix fitting on the seat post. I have a choice of DIY 1kg 3Ah or 2kg 6Ah batteries. I live in Cambridge so my 10 mile...

Samsung INR18650-20R .. yes these cells can punch, new 24R

I have used that seller before to buy some welded up 5s2p Konion cell replacement drill pack inserts, which I then adapted for my ebike. Good reliable supplier with good communication. Jerry

    Lightweight folder - build thread

This is mine This is a very light assist (200W/10amp max, 1.4kg motor) but also very quick. This keeps the bikes carry weight to under 14kgs (battery in an attached bag/ruck sack). Full details here...

Building battery from MAKITA Konion PACK

Thanks. Yes I do have cellogs though don't leave them connected just check after rides sometimes. So far I have only taken 3.0Ah out the 6.0 Ah battery before charging. I guess I could do some more tests going lower with cellogs attached and set to alarm. Regards Jerry

Building battery from MAKITA Konion PACK

Ah just read this in another thread. "Firstly, don't take these cells down past 3.3-3.5V if possible and charge up to 4.15- you'll get much better life out of them." So looks like LVC of my controller needs to be set to around 34v. Regards Jerry

Building battery from MAKITA Konion PACK

Ok 36v * 6Ah i.e. 2*5s4p pack built and seems to be working well in my low current setup. Nice small pack which fits into the back pocket bag of my Brompton C. I have included breakout leads so I can charge/balance each 5s4p pack if I need to with my RC charger. Mostly I plan to bulk charge at...

    Alex Moulton RIP

Man he attacks it with that huge Allen key  It's really not that hard to use a smaller Allen key, put it in squarely and undo it without wobbling it all over the place. Jerry

    Alex Moulton RIP

Here's mine a recent Pashley built Moulton TSR2 (two speed belt driven) with a lightweight front hub (Tongxin) conversion. The above picture shows it ready to go with a small 5 mile battery in that frame bag. Shown below in its portable form with a larger battery in that detachable bag...

Building battery from MAKITA Konion PACK

As I live in the UK and getting hold of these cells has been difficult, I have built a pack (10s4p 2*5s4p in series so I can check their balance) using these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320951949469?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Unfortunately they seem to be running out of...

Konion 5s4p pack two in series 37V, 6Ah

Ok just ordered another two of these packs. These appear to be genuine cells and the seller is very helpful replying to emails. I will then build a 10s4p 36v 6Ah for around £100. This is good value (£2.5/$4 per cell delivered) given that you know all cells are new and don't have to to split...

Konion 5s4p pack two in series 37V, 6Ah

The only pros I can think of is it helps hold the packs together and distributes the current draw across more of the connecting bars ? Jerry
