    Controller wiring

man doc has put some effort into understanding this, I haven't looked too closely, but I used to use zener diodes to drop voltage by 12v usually so that I could use 36v throttle leds to work with 24v throttle leds, was convenient way to do it, also of course can do same for 48v leds battery...

Hilleater ebikes vancouver on this forum?

As you know a good cell will keep its voltage for a very very long time, 0.02v per day in my view thats a significant leak of energy, I wouldn't use the pack very often ( its 36v volt pack I have a 36v trike which might get used once a week at most). I would prefer a pack where I"m not...

Hilleater ebikes vancouver on this forum?

Yes there is risk involved sometimes with experimenting, interestingly, that cell did charge up but looses voltage about 0.02volts per day. I dont have issues with experimenting, without risk sometimes you dont move forward. Most of the cells sit at 3.95v or so, the hammered one I charged it up...

Hilleater ebikes vancouver on this forum?

Yes I have same issue, I knocked the cells out today and dismantled the pack, same deal swollen cells, the most swollen cell still had a voltage of 3.38volts. So I'm doing a little experiment with degassing the swollen cells. A very well made pack I must say. I'm just charging some cells that I...

Regen Braking with a Brushed Motor and Lead Acid Batteries

I'm no expert on brushed controllers, but some that have regen braking they dont put the regen back into the batteries, but put the current/voltage back through the motor that is radiated away as heat via the windings. I dont know enough to say how to identify different regen type controllers...

Regen Braking with a Brushed Motor and Lead Acid Batteries

you might consider a mobility scooter controller such as the old curtis brand, you would have to research how to wire it up bu6 they have regen and high current for 24v

I'm working on a Shopride mobility scooter, 24v brushed motor and very nice old controller ( 1997 approx)made in england ( Penny and Giles Drive Technologies Christchurch, Dorset UK). While checking the controller board for damage I noitced a small burn mark on the back of a small mosfet, the...

    brushed controller with regen?

thanks for replies, el-cheapo for me would be the $20 to $30 range, this mobility scooter is called shoprider, made back in about 1999 or so, its probably a fairly early version but the controller is very well made, trying to repair it but no luck as yet. Was thinking of going with a new...

Convert standard charger to balancing charger

thanks guys, excellent info, yes the charger indicator shows on/off continuously near end of charge, I was wondering why it did that. Seems all my questions answered. I'm now converted to these bms boards maybe at some stage will use for discharge cycle also. Looking at aliexpress you can buy...

Convert standard charger to balancing charger

If anyone wants to chime in on how these bms boards work, would be greatly appreciated. I'm assuming that when a cell bank reaches fully charged, its taken out of the charge current by substituting in a resistor to act as that bank, so each bank in the 10s is top balanced. I could be way off. I...

Convert standard charger to balancing charger

This thread probably wont be of interest to those knowledgeable on bms boards, but it might be of interest to someone wanting to convert there standard charger to a balancing type charger. I'll start from the end point and go backwards how this came about. I'm guessing most premade battery packs...

new battery case idea no welding/soldering

its not too hard to work out the details of how it works a quick look at this video how it works at the 1 min 27sec mark shows him taking off the lid, the lid has horizontal prongs tapered, the board underneath has holes which the vertical columns go into, each column has a hole structure at its...

new battery case idea no welding/soldering

just came across a startup in brisbane, they've just recieved significant govt funding also, but the idea is cylinderical cell cases that make assembly and dissassembly quick and easy, its a very nice idea.
