    Golden Motor HPM-10KW Motor 48V with Sevcon Gen4 Size6

You have to make absolutely sure you have a correct motor pole pairs set, at least rougly, set the motor Ke constatn, correct hall/phase sequence and aligned encoder (halls in your case). Without that make no sense to try anything further. I usually use these steps: 1. set all speed(!) gains...

    BMS modding for more current

Hooyi HY3712 IS chinese part. And I don't care if it has 30% worse Rdson than the top class part with several times higher price. The 100A BMS cost me 100$, used on 8kW 90V motorcycle and its heatsink is barely warm after a long ride. Of course, but that is not the point.

Sevcon Gen4 size 4 with chineese BLDC

Did you make the phase/hall (encoder) alignement? If so, check the motor constant is set correctly.

    BMS modding for more current

I didn't talked about any copies. I just pointed out that for the part name "HY3712" there are two diffent mosfets components from a two different (chinese) manufacturers, that have completely different specs. According to the printed logo, the right one is the Hooyi HY3712, that is 120V, low...

    BMS modding for more current

Me too (see the link above). I'm pretty sure there are two completerly different HY3712 parts that only share the same codename. And I think even the lowend chinese manufacturers are not complete idiots to use 250V 450mOhm mosftet for the ~100V/100A BMS. Or just compare the manufacturer logo...

    bluetooth BMS?

The channel is fine, when I set 26s to 30s, I can see all 22 values. I think that 22s is not divided as 11s + 11s between the AFEs, but rather 12s + 10s. I'm going to figure it out. EDIT: OK, tested. For 22s, the first half (from the B-) has to be configured as 12s and the second half aos 10s.

    bluetooth BMS?

Unforutnately, it does not seem to work. After modifying the solder joints, reorganising the cables and resetting the BMS to 22S mode, the cell 11 reads near zero Volts. The reading of the other 21 cells seems correct. I have to check the datasheet, if the table is valid also for a daisy...

    BMS modding for more current

Are you sure? According to datasheet there http://boorzia.com/download/HY3712.pdf the HY3712 are 125V/170A with Rds(on) of 6.3mOhm. That sounds to me as an exellent choice, especially for the price. But there are 36 of the mosfets in my BMS (40 when I populate the missing 4), thats 200$ just...

Is it possbile to add sin/cos encoder to the HUB?

Thank you, both. Unfortunately, the axle is a part of the startor on the HUB motor, so no way how to use chips like AS5047P. On the other side, the solution with the two linear hall sensors and the magnetic ring looks doable. The Sevcon manual says the encoder should output a single sinus (and...

Is it possbile to add sin/cos encoder to the HUB?

Anyone tried to add sin/cos encoder to the standard HUB motor? It is even hypothetically possible? We have a long standing problems with the Sevcon Gen4 + QS motor (hubmotor wih halls). The problem is the Sevcon often (depending on the actual angle of the motor) misreads the halls at zero and...

Sevcon Gen4 directional throttle and other questions

Hi all, I have a couple of questions about the Sevcon Gen4 that are not clear from the manual: 1. It is possible to set the directional throttle for the variable regen (Vectrix style) and also as an forward/reverse throttle (when a vehicle is staying) in the same time? 2. How to properly...

    Open Source BMS Project

Do you plan to set up some repository for this project? I'm going to design a single board 8s BMS for a mobility scooter around MAX14920 AFE + AVR. I'd like to make it as a contribution to opensource project rather then to reinvent a wheel. BTW, I'm skilled PCB designer and I prefer SMT components.

    bms IC 2016

Thanks for the links. I like the MAX1492x, too. The balance drivers on separate pins are much better than the TI solution. I have to look closely to your BMS project.

    bms IC 2016

I'm missing an Atmel Atmega16HVB and Atmega32HVB in the table. They look as a pretty solution for a nice 4 cell modular system based on a well known AVR core.

    How long do batteries last?

First of all, tell us what battery do you have, how old is it and what type of cells are inside. While the SLA and old LiCo li-ion cells degrade pretty quickly with time, the LiFePO4 or modern li-ion chemistry cells should last multiple times of your range when they are handled properly. The...

    E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

The important for the phase winding is the phase current, not the battery current indicated on the CA. If you want to experiment with the higher than nominal power, install a temperature sensor directly on the winding and set the maximal allowed temperature in your controller and you are safe.

ego scoota fully charged but nothing happens

54V from 4x 12V SLA looks about right. At first I would try to switch ON/OFF the circuit breaker as well as the keylock to be sure there is not a weak contact. Also check the wires leading to the circuit breaker are on place and firmly tighted.

    E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

Very nicely done Flexy. How complicated was to remove the old controller and keep the unrelated (lights, keylock..) circuits functional? Does the dashboard still working?

    Sinopoly, or winston?

Personally, I doubt there is any difference between Winston and Sinopoly parameters except the color and the dimensions. I have both of them mixed in my pack and they behave exactly the same. If you want lifepo4 with better parameters, look at CHL, WiNA or A123.
