    Bosch Mid-Drive at CES 2014

Disclaimer: other than the photos I don't have more info about the bike. I was really busy trying to cover the entirety of CES for my company in 48 hours so I didn't have time to stop and chat with the rep. I was excited though that this was in Central Hall and not hidden away like some other...

    Wear your safety gear!

Holy crap my e-bike is really expensive. Just got around to doing the component breakdown and I'm at 1.2K in just components

    Wear your safety gear!

Initially she said that she would pay for everything. I think once she realized that it wasn't a 10 dollar wheel true, she decided that she didn't want to pay out of pocket. Shes trying to do some sketchy thing with her insurance (i guess that she bought another policy right after the...

    Wear your safety gear!

Ugh totally my fault. I was scrambling to get my bike loaded up and try to get to work on time: during this time I heard '1500 dollar fine'. At first i thought the cop was being nice to her about smog or something but now I think she somehow finagled her way out of being towed for not having...

    Wear your safety gear!

The solution is clearly to wrap everything in bubble wrap. Ugh, anyone have experience with uninsured collisions?

    Wear your safety gear!

Not to say that armor is an excuse to ride dangerously, but could you honestly say that you can stay safe on the road by riding differently (ie: 'safer')? While I could have been riding even slower than I was, I'd like to think that I did everything that I could to ensure my safety (big brakes...

    Wear your safety gear!

Well 'might be safe' is not 'safe'. I'm not going to risk my life at the expense of the person who caused the accident. Picture doesn't look like much but micrometer says its like ~4 mm off

    Wear your safety gear!

Headtube is bowed on the bottom + frame is aluminum so kinda concerned about stress fractures.

    Wear your safety gear!

Yeah, but thats just time that I really don't have. I think (and hope) that it was just an insurance plan that had lapsed recently and can be retroactively renewed, otherwise it'll be time to lawyer up I was probably going 20-23. The road isn't in the greatest condition (potholes) so I was...

    Wear your safety gear!

Actually no. After i pulled out my phone and started taking pictures of her license plate she stopped trying her 8 point turn in a vain attempt to get away from me and a bystander. Called the cops, got a case number, tons of picture, a witness, and a taped audio confession. Still doesn't help...

    Wear your safety gear!

4 lane road (two for each direction) with center divider + dedicated left turn lanes. I was in number 2 lane when suddenly car going in the opposite direction makes left turn across 3 lanes. There was a person on my left so i just jammed the regen and brake as hard as i could without locking up...

    Wear your safety gear!

tl;dr Got hit by a car. Walked away with minimal injuries because of safety gear. Wouldn't be typing this if I wasn't.

Bartimaeus is a beast. That is all. Source? Github it so that we can start some form of svn.

    72v 1500W 40A Hua Tong CA08 XM06AD_P04.1 controller

That's going to put you into the upper 40A range. It's also not a very reliable way of modding the shunt. Solder's resistance is pretty variable with temperature + if it gets hot enough you might get solder balls. Throw some copper or desoldering wick into there.

    Cycle Analyst Android App

Eeprom memory location + value would be great as a stop gap. Allowing "button presses" via serial would be the most bullet proof (left, right, maybe a special menu quit). This would enable remote installations with a super cheap Bluetooth tablets serving as a true remote display.

    Cycle Analyst Android App

Is this intended to work with V3 with slight changes or are you going to ask Justin for a V2.XX firmware that accepts configuration settings from serial? Either way, awesome. Also you may already know this but you can enable screen rotation (by sensor) by changing screen orientation under...

    Cycle Analyst Android App

Hmm I guess. Though you would still need a common ground. Don't know how happy a switching power supply would be being grounded to itself. I believe thats just operating voltage for powering the unit. I have the same board +module as you and it says pretty explicitly that the logic level stuff...

    Cycle Analyst Android App

Excellent work so far. I was able to get it working with my setup very quickly. A couple questions: How did you envision that the bluetooth module was going to be powered? The CA's 5V output isn't quite up to the task (when in pairing mode the module uses as much as 40mA). I currently am...

    Genesis V2100 Build

With the trapezoidal controller + chain noises its pretty freaking loud. Doesn't pass for a bike anymore: its just too long. For stealth i think i'm going to disguise it as a cargo bike or something. Wants to lift even with a 12" extended swing arm at power levels below 5kw. So powerful in fact...

    Ebike "The Resurrection"

Agreed. Why bother paralleling the cells on a temporary basis if they going to live and die as a pair? Parallel them permanently at pack and cell level and watch them at cell level. If you see a pair of cells way below the others you'll know that one/both are bad etc. You already have them in...
