Outrunner for a lightweight conversion (Oset 24)

We did convert the bike to brushless, turned out very well - https://www.facebook.com/groups/643915049618116/permalink/925464301463188/

motor current vs. battery current & duty cycle

Thanks! what I am getting to is what will be the best duty cycle parameters for slow technical hard enduro? steep rock climbs at low speed. don't really care about speed & fast riding. should I leave the duty cycle parameters to 0.5% - 95% (this is the default)?

motor current vs. battery current & duty cycle

analysing the last trip via the VESC tool, I see that most of the time the motor (Phase) current is 3, or 4 times higher than the battery current (can be seen clearly in the attached screenshot). when climbing steep hills. the motor current is very high (over 150 amps) while the battery's...

replace melted phase wires - need advice

I think it's a misunderstanding. I don't use a 9 tooth connector. only the wires are warm. conccections are fine.

replace melted phase wires - need advice

OK. Thanks for the clarification The wires are melting along their entire length. Connections are fine, and motor is cool. So, they need to be replaced. Just hope it won't be too much of a problem, digging inside the motor. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk

replace melted phase wires - need advice

Thanks. the wires are bundled together in a jacket. their width is extremely small for the current they suppose to deliver - I am guessing 16 gauge, so no wonder they melt. they need to be replaced, no question. I am just wondering if replacing the outer portion of the wires only (I mean after...

replace melted phase wires - need advice

the Golden Motor 108 1.5kw that I am using have very small diameter phase wires (16-18 gauge). the motor is capable of up to 80 amps, and remains cool, but the phase wires melted after 10 minutes. I'll try to replace them with thicker wires, but if opening the motor turns out to be too...

    Bypass LCD display

Made some digging, and it's a simple 790 display unit (not lcd). So, I guess red to blue is what I need to short. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk

    Bypass LCD display

If I knew life would be so much easier. I don't know, hence the question. Received the controller without the display. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk

    Bypass LCD display

got a used controller for my 48v rig. don't have the display that came with it, but it only showed parameters like speed and voltage. no power button. from the controller there are 4 wires that goes to the display - red, black, blue & green. measuring voltage shows 50v between the red/black...

    Golden motor 108 compatibility?

Installed a 1.5KW Golden motor (model 108) https://goldenmotor.bike/product/1500w-bldc-motor/in a home built 48V rig. tried 2 Votols (EM50S & EM150), and a Kelly KLS 7218N, but can not make these combos sync. free spinning on a jack, works great, but once under load, the motor is cogging &...

About to receive a new EM50s controller, without the wiring harness. Will a EM100 wiring and usb cable fit? Do they use the same wiring harness? Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk

Outrunner for a lightweight conversion (Oset 24)

Looking to upgrade the stock brushed 48v 1400w (3300 rpm) motor of the Oset 24 trial bike. The stock motor overheats, and can't hold its paces on hill climbs. The rider is 14 years old, and the bike weighs 54 kg. Not looking for added performance, just added reliability of a brushless system...

Add resistor in line with throttle to limit top speed?

Did not measure the signal wire's voltage since it stayed intact. Didn't have to cut this wire, so I can't tap to it in order to measure its voltage. If it's important to you TC, I can cut, measure and re-solder. Let me know. Seems that adding the pot to my +5v wire is behaving like adding the...

Add resistor in line with throttle to limit top speed?

good news - works very well! started with adding a 10k potentiometer to the red +5v wire (when throttle is disconnected it measures 7.3v for some reason). power was limited as I was hoping. however, the more I increased the resistance, the wider the dead band in the throttle's twist became. so...

    Brushed 48v controller - YK43B

I agree, but I have a feeling that the stock controller is way overrated, and the new 1500w controller is way way under-rated

Spark when connecting the battery killed the controller

Bypassed the key activated relay, and connected directly the positive battery & controller's wires. There was a spark in the connector, and the controller stopped working ever since. It's a 48v system. Using XT90 connectors. It's a 40 amp continous draw setup. Is this a common fault? What...

    Brushed 48v controller - YK43B

I used the hall throttle that arrived with it. However, it's not only the rate of acceleration, but also the top speed and amp draw that became insanely high.
