    Electric Brake Cutoffs Important? (Dillenger)

I would NOT disconnect the electronic brake.. Or a better way of putting it, is to have at least ONE brake/power cutoff.. It doesn't happen very often, but if the ground wire gets cut off from the throttle or get shorted out in someway, the bike/motor will want to go full throttle the entire...

LiFePo4 - reduced cold weather performance?

I know that cold will have the effect of creating more sag in the cells, but does it "hurt" them in any way? Being in South Florida, its not normally a problem, however its been quite chilly the past couple of days and I've noticed much more sag than usual and was hoping that it wasn't doing...

4500+ Miles US Ebike Tour - August 2014

In regards to the 12v battery, I use it currently for EVERYTHING not related to the motor battery... I routinely do 100 mile round trips here in South Florida on the weekends.. From Palm Beach county to Miami/Dade County (and back) The 12v battery is useful for.... 1.) My LEDs for front and...

4500+ Miles US Ebike Tour - August 2014

I had a couple of questions..... 1.) What happened (if anything) with Law Enforcement throughout your trip... The reason I ask is, I know SOME States have different laws concerning E-Bikes and that I'm sure there's at least one that outlaws them... Did you check on that? 2.) What was your...

    changing lifepo4 swollen cell.

My charger is set at 58.0 V. It's not too high at all. That's about 3.625 per cell... Either way at some point I will probably pull the BMS out of the pack bed put it in its own enclosure. It's currently working well, my entire set up. I think I will leave it alone for now. I've used and have...

    changing lifepo4 swollen cell.

That's why I put a fan over the BMS while charging... Just being cautious because the BMS is in the actual packaging of the battery and I do not want it to get too hot as to damage the cell that is located right next to it.

    changing lifepo4 swollen cell.

My charger is set for 58.0v which should be close to 3.6 V per cell. Let me reiterate that it only gets hot after it starts balancing.... I start the fan when I start charging because I charge overnight and I'm not going to wait until it starts balancing to start the fan. Oh, and it's a basic...

    changing lifepo4 swollen cell.

My question to you is which cell was bloated/broken? Was it located somewhere in the middle of the pack or was it the cell right next to the BMS? I have the same kind of battery but in a 20 amp hour configuration from the same seller and the BMS get super hot, so hot, that I decided to hook up a...

    48v 30ah Battery....

By the way, how did you find out or figure out what BMS he is using? Also, like I said before I really don't want to remove the BMS out of the packaging until I really have to. On a sidenote, I noticed that while charging the MOSFETs were really heating up I could feel the insane amount of heat...

    48v 30ah Battery....

Well today I did a run doing an average of 22 mph. I got just under 60 miles distance before LVC. I will let it charge for the next week without riding it to see if they really are out of balance and then check the range again with the same conditions.

    48v 30ah Battery....

My controller is 20 A max so there's no way I'm even getting even close to 1C. Max amperage would be .66C I have the 30 Ah pack. I would guess my average usage is somewhere in the 10 to 12 amp range. That would be about .33c

    48v 30ah Battery....

I couldn't read the voltage when it cut off at LVC. I had to plug in the charger for about 5 seconds until the BMS output mosfets turned back on. That is when I read the voltage... My bike (and me) weigh over 300lbs so the Wh usage is about right. And even if they are "way out of balance" a...

    48v 30ah Battery....

So today I went for worst-case scenario. Very very little to almost no pedaling on start up. - I only pedaled a little on startup when the battery gauge's full/green light started "fading" towards the last 3 Miles before I hit LVC. Constantly did 20 mph on average. Between 18 and 22 mph. A lot...

    48v 30ah Battery....

Well my best case scenario was tested yesterday.. Pedal on startup every time (Up till about 8mph), slow progression of speed up to 18 mph meaning no WOT and little to no wind against me. I CAN do up to 26-28mph, but for this test I wanted best case. 71 Miles total! At LVC. Soon will test...

    48v 30ah Battery....

Has anyone bought a battery from these guys before? http://www.ebay.com/itm/261571374811 They seemed to have a decent price for an over (supposedly) 1400wh pack. So I purchased one and so far it's running pretty good.. Before I hooked it up to my controller, I put it on the charger and let it...

Difference between a throttle and a PAS system?

What is the technical difference between a PAS sensor on the crank of a bicycle and the throttle magnet/sensor on the handlebars? Is there a huge difference or is it that the turning of the crank and the turning of a hand throttle are basically the same thing / mechanism?

    Overcharged cells...

So I have this battery made with Headways... 16s,2p - 38120L cells The pack has been "fine" for over 3 months, when all of a sudden a group of parallel cells just crapped out. The cells have been previously charged about 50 times with no issues whatsoever.. i.e. Perfectly balanced to 3.60-3.68v...
