52 volt batteries proceed with caution

52 volt firmware from Bafang limits current to 28 amps down from 30 amps and this is a special request for Bafang to load this firmware to not throw the error 7 code with 52 volt batteries, it negates any supposed 8% performance increase. They do not want 52 volt batteries. They do not ship a 52...

52 volt batteries proceed with caution

Avoid 52 volt Hailong packs is all I am trying to warn people about. I have no agenda. We see them all the time and people are getting mislead. 48 volt Hailong good, 52 volt Hailong bad. Reention actually does make cases now to properly build a 52 volt 17.5 Ah and 13.5 Ah batteries. They are a...

52 volt batteries proceed with caution

I just decided to write something up on these 52 volt packs still being pushed by many vendors. I get asked on the phone and in emails all the time and writing something I can link to is a time savor for me and those wanting to know. When our customers had failures we sent them replacement 48...

52 volt batteries proceed with caution

These cases are designed for 48/36 volts, to fit only 52 cells or less, not 56. Hailong does not make a case made for 52 volts. The first picture, 48 volts, with the purple cells, shows how it should look, notice the black frame holding the cells together as a pack. That cell holder frame...

52 volt batteries proceed with caution

All the 52 volt packs using Hailong cases will be shoddy so just be careful. All those cases were designed for 48 volts not 52. The cases would need to be designed for 52 volts, but they are only designed for 48 and cram cells inside. All the vendors are doing this, just want people to be aware...

52 volt batteries proceed with caution

Here is a link to an article about Hailong branded 52 volt batteries. They are still being sold by many vendors, but should they? NO is the short answer. Check it out below: https://www.empoweredcycles.com/blogs/news/52-volt-battery-proceed-with-caution

Bottom Bracket Standards and Bafang mid drive motors

No this does not push out chain line. The drive side ring fits inside the shell so the motor fits flush. Where are you getting this 1-2mm idea from? You would only need spacers on the drive side of the motor if it touches the chain stay, which is bike specific, not related to the adaptor at all.

    New TSDZ2 questions and problems???

I have found that creating more space between the sensor and the magnet fixes this. If you can't find a spoke a little further away, rotate the sensor up or down to create more space and this should fix the 62.4 mph issue. For some strange reason if the magnet is close like you would think it...

WARNING THIS SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK WITH BBSXX MOTORS Yes we know about Praxis Works, they are located here in our backyard in Santa Cruz California. I have contacted them in the past and spoke with a rep by the name of Ross to confirm the below comment as fact. This is a proprietary bottom...

    Bafang BBSHD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

The chain ring in the photo on pg 15 from Gmullz is a new ring offered by Bafang. Luna calls it an "aluminum Luna chainring". Unfortunately, it is offset outward 10mm. Hence the free giveaway. Its poo. We ordered some from Bafang and its ok for bikes with long drive chains like tandems etc...or...

Bottom Bracket Standards and Bafang mid drive motors

Will the BBSxx fit in my bike? This is a question that many of us need help in answering. The question you should be asking first is "what kind of bottom bracket does my bike have"? You need to know the answer to this in order to understand how the BBS02 or BBSHD will fit in your bike and what...

    Warning: Problems with Luna Cycle

Bafang has just changed BBS02 controllers to have a water proof gasket similar to the HD motors. They will also include the 3 pin wire for gear sensors.

    Programming the Bafang Middrive BBS01+BBS02

The controllerst program does not test and find a serial port by itself or automatically, you must look in "device manager" find the comm port assigned to the usb device and manually enter it. You may also have a dead controller, does the motor work? If the motor does not work, you will...

    Bafang BBSHD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

The price is not a secret, Bafang has not released much information about it yet, and price will be based on what 8fun charges. I don't think it will be much more money, I certainly hope not! I don't plan on charging 300$ extra for this. It's a simple change really, and one they needed to make...

    GIANT Full E+ 2014 mid-drive mtb ebike

But the spindle has not been replaced and he is still riding it, so was it bent or not? Does not seem like it was after all. Maybe there will be some updates to the post if it was changed or not. I do not have any videos of off road riding yet, but i plan to some time in the future. Sorry if...

    GIANT Full E+ 2014 mid-drive mtb ebike

Still no proof, apparently you did not read the post you linked to. The crank arm came loose, nothing bent, nothing broken and he was able to ride his bike with no further issues after tightening everything up. Sounds like his biggest issue was chain slip. It is important to measure chain...

    Brake suggestions?

No more adjusting for pad wear. The caliper pistons advance as the pads wear. Just like auto/motorcycle brakes. To initially adjust brakes.... Loosen the caliper bolts so the caliper wiggles, apply and hold the brake so it grabs/aligns with the rotor, while holding the brake lever tighten down...

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

Tektro Dorado HD-E710 brakes are awesome! They are specifically made for ebikes and have larger Calipers than standard and a .5mm thicker rotor (2.3mm as opposed to 1.8mm for standard), as well as More robust pads.

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

Yes the Tektro brakes use a two wire switch, the bbso1 uses 3 wire hall switch. You can solder small jumper pins to the wires of the Tektro brake and insert them into the GND and Brake signal pins if you wish to preserve the connector. Or cut connector off and solder the two brake wires to the...
