Teenagers e-skateboard for Christmas - On a budget

Lets put it this way. If friction drive was more cost effective and offered the same performance level as belt drive, there would be a lot more builds on here using friction drive. Being as this is a DIY community almost everyone is looking to build something on the cheap. If everyone could drop...

Teenagers e-skateboard for Christmas - On a budget

Agreed with the post above. I weigh about 165 and my area is really hilly. I'm running dual 63mm on 6s with no problems. I think for someone in the 100lb area a single 63mm on 6s is plenty. Also like he said you will want to use a car esc around 120 or 150 amp. Also you'll need the programmer...

Teenagers e-skateboard for Christmas - On a budget

Also meant to add that 168k is pretty low. I would recommend something closer to 200k for a good balance of torque and speed (assuming single drive). I have two 192k's on my board and it will pull me up any hill and still does roughly 20 mph.

Teenagers e-skateboard for Christmas - On a budget

The difference in motors is most likely a difference in the quality of materials used. I've never really heard of the first motor. I have seen plenty of builds using sk3's though and I myself have had no problems from my sk3's for almost two years now. This is with riding the board almost...

    Austin's E-MTN Board Build

So obviously my mounts didn't work out that well, chain kept popping off. So I ordered another piece of aluminum angle to try another mount design. Today when I was looking at everything to figure out how I wanted to go about it, I noticed my original enertion mount laying in the corner. I...

    2.4Ghz Mini Remote

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this but sometimes when I turn off my mini remote the power led is still lit and I can still control throttle and what not. I have to slide it back towards the on side by like 1mm to make sure the light is off. Maybe what you're experiencing okami?

    Mbs Electric Mountainboard-6374 230kv, Vesc, 7s 6200 mah

Did you have to grind down the brake mounts on the truck with these mounts. Also did you have them cnc'd or water jetted?

    Scramboards MTB kit

Has anyone tried any of these parts? I want to get my E-MTB up and running but right now motor mounts are the thing I'm having trouble with. I like no winds mounts but they just seem a little too expensive for me. The mounts from these guys seem to be decently priced for everything you get. If...

    Welded or Bolt-On Motor Mounts?

I can see movement on a paris truck I guess. I run calibers and have been running bolt on mounts for about a year and a half. I ride just about everyday to and from class. Not to mention just riding for fun over the weekend. I use red locktite on all my bolts and have never once had a motor...

    Welded or Bolt-On Motor Mounts?

VESC is definitely the best option if your budget allows for it and you plan on running more than 6s. I would also take a look at some of the recent mountainboard threads. I think they are using the Hobbywing MAXX6 or something like that which is capable of 8s. I run two hobbywing 150A's on 6s...

    Welded or Bolt-On Motor Mounts?

IMO welded motor mounts are a thing of the past. Torque was the only one offering them for sale I believe and even he has switched to a bolt on style mount. The bolt on mounts are every bit as strong as a welded mount if not stronger. My bolt on mounts from torqueboards is crazy thick compared...

    Austin's E-MTN Board Build

So I got some work done last night. I used 2"x2" aluminum angle to replace the portion of torque's mount that bolts to the truck. I had to cut 3/4" off of the side that mounts to the truck to clearance the sprocket. Plan on using some 1/8"x3/4" aluminum flat stock to tie the two mounts together...

    Austin's E-MTN Board Build

Like I said I plan on utilizing the toqueboard's bolt on mount that I already have but will modify it to work with the matrix trucks. Also plan on using the electrics that I already have; two Hobbywing waterproof 6s esc's, two Turnigy 6s 5000mah lipos, and a Hobbyking controller in Badwolf 3D...

    Austin's E-MTN Board Build

I have already build two electric longboards. One 6s single 56mm motor with standard 83mm urethanes and another 6s with dual 6374's with alien drives 5" wheel kit. I used their wheel kit for several months and the ride quality was great, but I kept having flats and could never get the wheels...

I could be wrong but I think the VESC only supports up to 12s.

turnigy outrunner bore hole spec question

means that the hole that the motor shaft goes through is 8mm in diameter. Your motor shaft your looking at is 6mm in diameter. Therefore these two wont work together because your motor pulley will be too loose on the motor shaft (by 2mm).

    Help diagnosing motor problem

Don't really know what your problem could be but just wanted to say I doubt it is any kind of build up. I ride on a campus where there is constant construction, so I'm always riding through gravel, dirt, and other crap. Also I ride in the rain and wet quite a bit. I have yet to have any problems...

    Marble Skateboard + Offroad Wheels

The marbel drive gear wont work with any of these larger wheels. Alien drive sells a pulley kit for their kit. Not sure on fitment, the marbel does seem to have a bottlenose shape to it but you may run into wheel bite issues. Hard to know without trying it because it hasn't been done before. Not...

    Marble Skateboard + Offroad Wheels

I know the Marbel is electric. When it comes to electric a high rolling resistance kills your range. When i swapped my standard longboard to electric I used these wheels first. I attached a pulley to the wheels to try them out. It killed my range and killed my ability to climb hills because the...

    Marble Skateboard + Offroad Wheels

My advise is not to use those wheels. I tried them on a standard longboard and the rolling resistance is absolutly terrible. It will roll like 5ft. then you gotta kick again. I suggest getting a nice set of pneumatic wheels you'll be much happier.
